Ford recalls more than 345,000 vehicles due to fire hazard

Ford is recalling the Escape and Bronco Sport models due to possible oil leaks that could cause a fire. At the moment, 15 cases of oil leaks have been registered, while not a single driver has been injured.

Ford has recalled 345,451 1.5 liter EcoBoost-equipped vehicles due to a potential fire hazard. These vehicles, which consist of the Escape and Bronco Sport crossovers, may have problems with the oil separator housing causing oil to leak. In turn, the leak can reach hot engine components and cause a fire.

Fire alerts have been sent.

Documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report 15 oil leaks and/or fires. Fortunately, there were no casualties or deaths as a result. Ford notes that drivers can smell oil while driving or see smoke coming out from under the hood; in this case it is better to park the car.

Which models are covered in this review?

The potential issue affects 2020-2022 Ford Escapes manufactured between November 19, 2018 and March 1, 2022. It appears that all 2021-2022 Bronco Sports models built with the 1.5-liter engine until recently are affected, as dates range from February 5th. , 2020 to March 4, 2022

free repair

Repairs will be free to owners and the cars will need to be delivered to the dealer. If the oil separator housings are damaged or defective, they will be replaced. Homeowners should receive a revocation notice in the mail around April 18th.

Other Ford models also faced massive recalls.

Ford separately recalled 391,836 of its trucks, including F-, Super Duty and Maverick, as well as . There are software issues that can cause trailer braking problems on some of these vehicles and could presumably cause the vehicle to not signal to apply the trailer brakes. These issues have also not resulted in injury, death, or accidents to homeowners.

Despite this, affected owners will have to take their vehicles to the dealer for repairs. It only requires a simple flashing of the integrated trailer brake control module, so there is no need to change hardware. Affected homeowners will also be notified by mail around April 18th.
