The exhaust system is a very important component of the engine accessories, as it ensures optimal removal of exhaust gases from the cylinders. It also performs other functions: it suppresses noise, removes exhaust gases from the body and helps to reduce the emission of harmful exhaust gas components. Silencers

Passenger car exhaust systems are part of a group of components that are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The reason for this is unpredictable wear, including mechanical damage. In popular cars, exhaust systems last 3-4 years.

The materials from which the exhaust systems are made work in extremely difficult conditions. When moving, metal parts heat up, while standing they cool down and then water vapor from the air accumulates on the cold walls. The gaseous components of the exhaust react with water to form acids, which accelerate the corrosion of metals from inside the muffler. Water splashes that hit the underside of a car's exhaust system, often containing dissolved salts, cause rust on the outside. Exhaust pipe and muffler vibrations caused by missing or broken rubber mounts are detrimental to the longevity of the exhaust system. The front pipe is subject to the least corrosion wear, since the exhaust gases flowing through it have a high temperature of up to 800 degrees C. The exhaust gases cool in the catalytic reaction and, passing through the mufflers and guide pipes, and when they exit the system, they reach a temperature of 200-300 degrees . As a result, most of the water vapor condensate is collected in the rear muffler. This condensate destroys the muffler sheet from the inside, even when the car is in the garage.

The frequency of muffler replacement is influenced by the following factors: mileage traveled, fuel quality, road surface quality, frequency of vehicle operation in winter and quality of spare parts used. Mufflers are supplied to the spare parts market by smaller manufacturers, the Dealership offers original parts with the logo of the car manufacturer.

Lack of money and a desire to make cheap repairs means owners buy items that are offered at the lowest prices. This trend has been observed in Poland since relatively cheap used imported cars appeared on the market. Buying and installing the cheapest product is not always optimal, as a one-time lower cost can lead to a reduction in the life of the muffler. A poorly made copy often does not fit properly with other parts, causing collisions with the original fixtures, increasing assembly time and increasing costs.

Professional domestic manufacturers have the right technology and use imported materials (aluminum sheets and pipes on both sides, fiberglass fillers), so that their products are durable, resistant to corrosion factors and well suited to the geometry of the chassis. The prices for these products are lower than for imported products. The largest producers include Polmo Ostrów, Asmet, Izawit and Polmo Brodnica. Among foreign suppliers, three companies should be noted: Bosal, Walker and Tesh. In order to compete with Polish factories, some foreign manufacturers have introduced special lines of cheaper mufflers due to the standardization of production and the cessation of embossing the company logo on the sheets. Products from Polish factories and slightly more expensive imported products can be responsibly recommended for purchase. On the other hand, mufflers welded by a torch from steel sheet without an anti-corrosion coating will not have satisfactory durability and are only acceptable in the case of atypical exhaust systems for which professional parts cannot be purchased.
