GMC Releases First All-Electric Sierra Denali Video

The GMC Sierra Denali will be the second all-electric pickup offered by the automaker. There are no details about the truck yet, but the first image shows an impressive front end and a string of lights not seen before.

A few months ago, GMC unveiled a first look at its upcoming all-electric Sierra pickup truck in a 20-second video. In the same video, the automaker showcases a unique and premium truck exterior lighting sequence.

This new all-electric pickup will only be available in the Denali Deluxe Edition. The all-new Sierra will be the third all-electric vehicle in GMC's portfolio, after the GMC HUMMER EV pickup truck and the GMC HUMMER EV SUV.

The automaker explains that, like the GMC HUMMER EV, the electric Sierra will be built on the Ultium platform, using high-quality materials and features that customers expect from the automaker.

Apart from what is seen in the video, there are no other details about the new electric Sierra Denali.

"Sierra Denali holds tremendous value for GMC and our customers," GMC Vice President Duncan Aldred said in a press release. “Now we have the opportunity to develop the capabilities and technologies of Sierra as far as the transition to an all-electric propulsion system allows, while enhancing the luxurious design and comfort inherent in Denali.”

There is no exact announcement date for the Sierra EV yet, but we expect it to debut in the first half of 2022. GMC plans to assemble it at the General Motors Factory ZERO assembly plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan1.

With this truck, GMC plans to be the first automaker to sell not one, but two all-electric trucks.
