The new Outlander may have only been around since November, but it's already getting its first model year update.

Due to ongoing semiconductor shortages and other supply chain issues, Mitsubishi Australia has announced that some variants of the recently launched Outlander midsize SUV will be priced at RM22.25 while others will get fewer features.

Due out in April, the Outlander MY22.5 lineup will be available in five trim levels: the entry-level ES (starting at $34,490 plus on-road costs), the mid-range LS (starting at $37,990), and the Aspire (starting at $41,490) at the same price as before (see full pricing table below), albeit after losing some standard equipment.

Specifically, the ES now has a power window that can be raised/lowered with one touch, the LS has replaced the power tailgate with a manual element, and the Aspire has replaced the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch multifunction display.

Meanwhile, the unchanged flagship Exceed and Exceed Tourer trims now cost $500 and $1000 more, $48,490 and $50,990 plus travel costs, respectively.

“These changes to the 22.5MG Outlander specification ensure that Mitsubishi Motors Australia can deliver these popular brands to our dealer network and customers on time,” said CEO Sean Westcott.

For reference, the ES is the only class available in five- and seven-seat configurations, while all others come standard with seven seats.

Front wheel drive (FWD) and all wheel drive (AWD) options are also offered for the ES, LS and Aspire, while the Exceed and Exceed Tourer only come with the latter.

All variants are powered by a 135-litre naturally aspirated 245kW/2.5Nm four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The ES comes standard with five (FWD) or six (AWD) driving modes, 18-inch alloy wheels, 9.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, Apple CarPlay wireless support and Android Auto wired support, 7.0-inch multi-function display, paddle shifters . shifters, dual-zone climate control and black fabric upholstery.

Advanced driver assistance systems extend to autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping and steering assist (with emergency functions), adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, driver warning, active blind spot monitoring, rear view camera and front and rear parking aid.

LS adds dusk sensors (including LED fog lights), rain-sensing wipers, heated and power folding side mirrors, silver roof rails, keyless entry, rear privacy glass, push-button start, wireless smartphone charging, leather trim . steering wheel and gear selector, auto-dimming rear view mirror, rear AEB, high beam assist and rear cross traffic alert.

Meanwhile, the Aspire also gets adaptive headlights, two-tone 20-inch alloy wheels, hands-free power tailgate, 10.8-inch head-up display, heated front seats, power adjustable driver's seat, micro-suede/faux leather. leather interior and all-round cameras.

The Exceed goes even further with a panoramic sunroof, 10-speaker Bose audio system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, rear sunblinds and black or light gray leather upholstery, while the Exceed Tourer leads the way up front. with two-tone paint job, massaging front seats and high quality leather upholstery in black/saddle brown.
