Honda Accord VIII (2007-2016). Buyer's Guide

For several years, Honda has not had a representative in the middle class in Europe. The new car market is losing a lot, but luckily the Honda Accord is still a hit in the aftermarket. Although the latest generation we sell is already a bit "broken" compared to its predecessor, you can't go wrong with buying it. Consequently, we still see relatively high prices for cars in ads, even with high mileage.

Japanese cars have faithfully earned their worldwide success - above all, the high level of reliability achieved through proven solutions. The latest generation Accord is a textbook example of this school of automotive engineering. When designing a new model, there are no experiments with either the appearance (it is almost the same as its predecessor) or the mechanical side.

Buyers can choose only front-wheel drive, a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic, and there are only three four-cylinder engines: VTEC petrol series with 156 or 201 hp. and 2.2 i-DTEC with 150 or 180 hp. They are all proven units, already cured of childhood illnesses during their existence with their predecessor. They switched to the new model with only minor modifications, which, among other things, increased their performance.

If the Accord was different from the competition, it was the suspension design. A multi-link system with so-called pseudo-MacPherson struts was used at the front, and a multi-link system at the rear.

Honda Accord: which one to choose?

Accord worked for a good reputation Honda starting from the first generation of this model, which dates back to the 70s. All currently available Accords on the market, starting from the sixth generation, are highly valued by Polish drivers. Although some fans of the model claim that the latest, eighth, was no longer as "armored" as its predecessor, today it is worth leaning towards newer specimens from this series.

Also in her case hard to find serious failures. These include the maximum clogging of the particulate filter, which is associated with the need to replace it with a new one (and an expense of several thousand zł). This problem, however, affects examples that have been used exclusively in the city for a very long time. They also happen cases of faster clutch wear, but this effect can be partially attributed to the inept operation of the car.

The larger of the gasoline engines cannot be blamed for anything other than high fuel consumption (over 12 l/100 km) and, in some cases, excess oil consumption. Therefore, the most reasonable option is the two-liter VTEC unit, which is still popular on the market.

In this configuration, this model does not give any emotions, but on the other hand, if someone expects not amazing impressions from the car, but only reliable transport from A to B, the Accord 2.0 will not want to part with it for many years.

The opinions of the owners in the AutoCentrum database show that it is generally difficult to find fault with this car. As many as 80 percent of owners will buy this model again. Of the minuses, only electronics. Indeed, Honda's products do have a few annoying flaws, but these are details that, with more unreliable cars of this age, would be overlooked altogether.

When choosing a used copy, you should pay attention only to the condition of the lacquer coating, which is prone to scratches and chips. Loudspeaker failures are also a known disadvantage., so in the car you are looking at it is worth checking the work of all of them in turn. From additional equipment Problems can be caused by a non-closing sunroof and xenon headlightswhere the level system might not work. If plastic crunches in the car, then this is rather evidence of poor handling of the car. In the case of models that have been in the same hands for many years, owners praise the Accord for its quiet interior and mature driving character.

It is no coincidence that the four-door version dominates classifieds sites. Station wagons are not any more practical, so this version can be chosen only because of the aesthetic value.

So where's the catch? Maximum price. Although the Accord does not win hearts with its appearance or characteristics, copies with a mileage of more than 200 thousand. km can cost more than 35 thousand. zł, and in the case of the most attractive specimens, the cost of up to 55 thousand must be taken into account. zloty. However, the experience of the seventh generation shows that after the purchase The Accord will retain its solid value for a long time to come.
