HSV has been officially replaced by GMSV! The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is already in showrooms, with the 2500 and Corvette Stingray due in late 2021.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the first model available at GMSV showrooms.

GMSV (General Motors Special Vehicles) officially launched in Australia and New Zealand, effectively replacing HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) following the demise of the Holden brand.

GMSV's dealer network includes 48 locations in Australia and six in New Zealand, each selling the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 full-size pickup truck, which is only available in the LTZ Premium Crew Cab, starting at $113,990 plus travel expenses.

However, the GMSV lineup will triple in late 2021 with the introduction of the even larger Silverado 2500 and the highly anticipated Chevrolet C8 Corvette sports car, the latter of which will be released in Stingray form.

While the Silverado is being "recycled" for right-hand drive by HSV's parent company, Walkinshaw Automotive Group, in Clayton, Victoria, the C8 Corvette will be built as such a former factory.

GMSV Director Joanne Stogiannis said: “We have started working with over 50 GM Specialty Vehicles dealers and look forward to adding more.

“Our GMSV dealers are now open for business in Australia and New Zealand. We can't wait for the first Silverados to be driven from our GMSV showrooms."

Ms Stogiannis added: “In Australia and New Zealand, we believe there is significant room for our iconic North American vehicles to compete in niche segments.

“We know that customers want to see what other products we add to our portfolio. We will continue to identify opportunities to add vehicles where we see a chance to compete in niche segments in Australia and New Zealand.”

For reference, the Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium Crew Cab launched on April 20 and was sold through the HSV dealer network prior to the introduction of the GMSV.
