Husqvarna TE 410 E and LT 610 E

Maybe Husqvarna was really easier to get started than KTM, I wouldn't go into this discussion. Mr. Zupin, who has always stood by Husqvarna for business and sports, ostentatiously started it in slippers or leather shoes, as has happened before.

However, personally, I cannot be sure of the benefits of kicking! When the devil dies in the middle of an intersection and you still have a satellite behind you, you're in a scenario worthy of your worst nightmare. In short, too much time has passed in the persistence of convinced enduro that an electric starter is not needed. That it is useless to put on weight only when the goal of a real single-cylinder engine is to lose as few kilograms as possible: the lighter it is, the better - even if the driver starts it unconscious. Well, yes, I have to be honest and point out that poorly maintained cars are hard to drive, but. .

Many years ago, when Zupin and I gave half permission to view the latest developments from the Husqvarna developers in Schirrana (Varese, Italy) and when I saw the electric start prototype, I was pleased. And I hoped that the final decision would not depend on the hard currents - because we know that for decades Husqvarna has been a metaphor for a real racing colt, with which there was nothing to look for in the city or on wanderings.

But time brings change. Over the past two years, when the electric starter has already been introduced in four-stroke race cars, they have changed this class of motorcycle and brought it closer to the average person. When you satisfy your craving for exceptional speed and racing discomfort, then you get a taste. Here, for many, a completely new view of the world, environment and time opens up. It has also become fashionable to move away from urban cramped conditions into nature.

I am not saying that this should be the heart of Triglav Park, it is enough that the village road is poorly paved or filled with old motor oil that blows away the new world of hilly places. But even in the city, such a thoroughbred single-cylinder has a number of advantages over other motorcycles. At least such a motorcycle gives life a new color with its image and the feelings that it evokes in the rider. It also boosts self-confidence.

We spent a short time with the new Husqvarnas at ZUPIN MOTO SPORT, which sells this brand here. The decision was made by two more civilized motorcycles in Husqvarna's offer with a four-stroke engine. Both are closer to the average motorcyclist than to the orthodox enduro, whose criteria can only be used in off-road and racing conditions. In short, we found a common denominator for both Husqvarnas: they are good choices for everyday use. This is where the differences begin.

The Husqvarna TE 410 E is a classic enduro that is still primarily designed for off-road use rather than on-road riding and was equipped with an electric starter. A good argument is that the bike is exactly the same as the more powerful TE 610 E. Thus, due to less power, the mechanics are less stressed and the machine is guaranteed a long service life. Personally, this motorcycle is very close to me, although the reasoning is quickly confusing.

The price is only 130.000 610 tolar lower than the TE 399 E model, and since the Slovenes still love to fish more than they can swallow, the more powerful the machine, the closer and more interesting it is. But the XNUMX cc single-cylinder engine See just right for a driver who is not a master of off-road driving. I am also one of the students doing a lot of self, motorcycle and off road traps off road. Therefore, I prefer that the engine does not throw me around the seat or throw me on the floor due to excess power.

Here and there, when I find myself having problems with the imbalance, I just awkwardly grab the throttle and hunt, and then I like to see that nothing jerks with the rear wheel. I argue that the average driver with this car on rough terrain with high demands on the driver can be faster and less fatigued than the driver of a more powerful car with the same manual control.

The suspension and geometry of the motorcycle are selected according to the laws of off-road driving. Approximately 140 kg of weight is the ideal amount to handle at any time, although it also means you have to get your hands out of the mud or a cramped garage. He sits upright, his body in contact with the fuel tank, his feet are on wide steel pedals, and in his hands is a comfortable open steering wheel.

Thanks to this ergonomics and light weight, the motorcycle gives a feeling of safety. Such that it will stay securely on the wheels, because even sliding on wet asphalt when braking turns into a playful thing. Large movement of perceived suspension damping means reliable tire-to-ground contact in the field, as well as comfort and tolerance on the asphalt if it is already necessary to drive along the edge of the curb for safer parking.

On the asphalt 410 moves quite briskly and smoothly, up to a speed of 120 km / h there is nothing to complain about. However, this is the limit at which less engine power is felt if the rider is overtaking or wants to accelerate. But the one who buys such a motorcycle probably does not think that he will spend most of his time on the highway between Ljubljana and Hamburg.

However, if he was going to travel from Ljubljana to Piran along the old road, he bought a decent enough horse. Tight cornering is fun, acceleration can be controlled well, and while the brake package is closer to off-road requirements, it can also handle pavement conditions. In short, I'm for it.

The Husqvarna LT 610 E, on the other hand, represents the third history of a single-cylinder engine. More bourgeois or touring, although this Husa is misleading at first glance - it looks just like an enduro - a sporty TE 610 E. Although both on asphalt provide very good grip.

The front wheel also has a larger brake disc, instead of 260 mm, it has a diameter of 320 mm. This clearly shows that the bike is primarily intended for highway riding, so a trunk behind the seat and an attached suitcase in Husqvarna colors are also welcome. And if you continue your search, you'll find a plastic fuel tank under the side plastics that holds a decent 17 liters instead of the classic nine liters. That's enough for a decently long drive. When you run out of fuel, you are warned by a yellow light, which (to control the light bulb operation) also lights up at idle speed. Yes, I like these little things!

576 cc single cylinder engine See how all new generation of TE/E motors with electric start. This generation received a redesigned engine cover that also features an oil pump to allow the engine to run for extended periods at open throttle with less hassle – for example on the highway, which has been a weak spot for Husqvarna's competition-oriented engines.

To refresh your memory: Husqvarna created a four-stroke engine by attaching a cylinder and four-stroke head to a two-stroke block, and lubrication was solved by using a camshaft drive chain in the head, which, in cooperation with the crankcase valve in the crankcase, collected the lubricating oil and carried it to the head. It is a simple and effective off-road and racing lubricant.

The Husqvarna LT has been nicknamed the "Traveling Adventure", which clearly shows that it is designed for everyday use and travel for two. In fact, in this way, it became similar to the Japanese single-cylinder KLR or XT generations, but with a shorter athlete temperament and less weight, since it does not have to weigh much more than 150 kg.

Single Cylinder Oscillations? I really don't remember them. Capacities? Rides smoothly on the rear wheel and jumps over 150 km / h. Ecology? Catalyzed exhaust system and unleaded petrol. Noise? No more than before. Suspense? Taking off my hat. Comfort? He sits on the motorcycle, not on it, neither the driver nor the passenger should complain. Price? Hey, this is Husqvarna!

Husqvarna is now more driver and passenger friendlier. Our photographer with experience with KLR thought the Husa LT 610 would be the right choice for him because he loves to go to the sea. Only price and wife are decisive factors.

The menu, which I prefer to drive on trips with a turbo diesel, is closer to the TE 410 E, because it is more suitable for sports days. Or the Supermoto SM 610 S, which we wrote about in last year's 19th AM issue.
