Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Autogefuehl review. Spacious, dynamic, not very economical [video]

Germany's Autogefuehl tested the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The car's multimedia system was found to be quite average, typical of Hyundai / Kii and not up to par with what modern phones offer, while the Ioniq 5 was praised for materials, interior space and driving experience. But when it comes to power consumption and range, we have to forget what the Kona Electric and Kia e-Niro taught us.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 - test

The official presentation of the cars took place in Valencia (Spain), that is, in a hot southern city. These are ideal conditions for achieving low power consumption, so the results below should not be generalized to the coldest months of the year. Yes, the cars had air conditioning, but the lithium-ion cells had the ideal temperature and high capacity.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 offered a high driving position, the cockpit seemed spaciousAlthough the vehicle is only 4,635 meters long, it should be easier to park than other D / D-SUV models. The most powerful variant of the Ioniq 5 with all-wheel drive accelerates to 100 km / h in 5,2 seconds (73 kWh, 224 kW / 305 hp), so the car was very dynamic. The reviewer decided that he would have survived without all-wheel drive - let's add here that the rear-wheel drive version has an output of 125 kW / 173 hp. with battery 58 kWh and 160 kW / 218 hp at 73 kWh.

Hyundai's new electrics are available with only one suspension version, no adaptive dampers, and the ride was considered comfortable but stable and enjoyable for the driver.

At a speed of 100 km / h on the freeway, the cabin was still very quiet, above this speed the sounds of tires and airborne noise began to reach the microphones, and the driver slightly raised his voice, although he still emphasized that it was quiet. At a speed of 90 km / h, the car needs about 17 kWh / 100 km. (170 Wh / km), which is not particularly low considering the weather in which the trip took place. For comparison: Tesla Model 3 SR + from China consumed only 12,2 kWh / 100 km at 90 km / h (!) At a slightly lower temperature, and at 120 km / h it rose to 16,6 kWh / 100 km.

Power Consumption Ioniqa 5 with "I'm trying to keep 120 km / h" it was 22-23 kWh / 100 kmthus, the car could travel up to 320 kilometers in summer with a fully charged battery. When the battery is down to 10 percent - because hardly anyone is at risk of traveling with a dead battery - it will 290 kmand when driving in the 80-> 10 percent mode up to 220-230 kilometers [calculations www.elektrowoz.pl].

So it looks like people looking to buy a Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6 should forget about the current sensational low power consumption of the Hyundai Kona Electric or Kia e-Niro, not to mention the Ioniqu Electric. Otherwise, they may feel disappointed after the purchase. Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 are simply great family cars (segment D-SUV and D) to be used to get us from point A to point B.
