Hyundai Ioniq 5: REAL RANGE 460 km @ 90 km / h, 290 km @ 120 km / h Worse ID.4 GTX on the track

Bjorn Nyland tested the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with 72,6 kWh all-wheel drive. The range of the car in this version at 90 km / h was 461 kilometers, and at 120 km / h - 289 kilometers. When driving slower, the car fell out similarly to the Volkswagen Group models, on the highway it turned out to be worse in mileage. But when making a purchase decision, you need to take into account the speed of loading cars.

Test: Hyundai Ioniq 5

The car is equipped with smaller 19" rims (20" rims are also available). The weather was very good, the temperature outside was 26 degrees Celsius, and it gradually decreased. An interesting fact that appeared at the very beginning is the lane keeping mechanism, Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. Well, it could be turned on independently of the cruise control, so that the driver can decide that the car is driving itself, maintaining its speed, or controlling both of these functions at the same time.

Hyundai Ioniq Weight 5 together with the driver made 2,2 tons, as much as the Tesla Model S P85 and slightly smaller than the Volkswagen ID.4 1st. The car had glued (double) windows front and rear, Nyland praised him for the quietness at both 90 and 120 km / h..

Car loading at Ionity station was amazing.: with 1 percent (!) of batteries, the Ioniq 5 accelerated to 130 kW, and the power continued to rise to 200 kW. Therefore, we assume that with the Hyundai Ioniqu 5 and the (advanced) Kii EV6, we will be calculating ranges not for 70, but for 75 percent of the battery capacity, that is, assuming a discharge to 5 rather than 10 percent.

Range Ioniqa 5 at 90 km / h

Experiment Results? At a speed of 90 km / h (running 93 km / h) Nyland drove 454,4 km and discharged the battery to 1,5 percent. As a result, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 lineup was:

  • 461 kilometers with a battery discharge of up to 0 percent,
  • 438 kilometers with a battery discharge of up to 5 percent,
  • 348 kilometers when driving in 80-> 5 percent mode [www.elektrowoz.pl calculations].

average power consumption the car on the road is 15,3 kWh / 100 km (153 Wh / km), which is a very good result considering that we are talking about a crossover from the D-SUV segment. Both had higher consumption Audi Q4 e-tron 40 rear, I also Volkswagen ID.4 GTX AWD – both models complete the C-SUV segment, the Ioniq 5 is larger than them (but has a smaller trunk).

Ioniq 5 and range at 120 km / h

At 120 km / h, the range of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 turned out to be significantly weaker, namely:

  • 289 kilometers with a battery discharge of up to 0 percent,
  • 275 kilometers with a battery discharge of up to 5 percent,
  • 217 kilometers when driving in 80-> 5 percent mode.

Average energy consumption was 24,4 kWh/100 km (244 Wh/km) – at this speed, the Ioniq 5 was more energy intensive than the two Volkswagen Group competitors. As one Nyland pointed out, both machines were tested at lower temperatures. If it were the same as in the Ioniq 5 test, their results would be similar.

It was raining on a small section of the track.

During the experiment, it was possible to use 70,6 kWh of batteries, which is less than 72,6 kWh declared by the manufacturer. As a result Hyundai Ioniq traveled 40 kilometers less on battery than competitors from Volkswagen... However, it's safe to assume that if the route is longer than 330 kilometers and there is an ultra-fast charger along the way, the Ioniq 5 will run faster due to the much faster charging process.

Combined with Volkswagen Group vehicles (including Skoda Enyaq iV), However, Nyland would have opted for the South Korean Hyundai Ioniq 5.... Worth Watching:

Editor's note www.elektrowoz.pl: it is worth noting that Nyland's results are very different from Nextmove's.during which the Ioniq 5 will be able to travel 325 kilometers at a speed of 130 km / h. Where are these discrepancies? Well, Nyland almost completely discharged the battery in at least one test and verified that its capacity is 70,6 kWh. Nextmove in turn calculated ranges are based on power consumption and manufacturer's stated battery capacity of 72,6 kWh.
