The icons on the dashboard of a car provide the driver with three types of information: they either report the operation of certain functions, or warn of a malfunction of specific systems, or indicate the need to replace consumables. If we are talking about technical problems, you should contact a car service for diagnostics as soon as possible. Ignoring such signals is dangerous for reasons of elementary safety. Recall that the illuminated red icons on the instrument panel directly indicate the danger, and require immediate action to be taken to quickly eliminate the malfunction.

Yellow also warns of a malfunction or the need to take some action to drive the car or service it. And green symbols inform about the operation of service functions and do not give the car owner a reason for alarm.

Probably, all drivers, having seen some red or yellow signal on the instrument panel, hope to the end that this is just an electronics error, and in fact there are no malfunctions. The reason for such hope is such a frequent occurrence in used cars as a burning “Check engine” signal. To understand that this is a false alarm, it is usually enough to remove the terminals from the battery for a moment and reconnect. Often this is enough for the "Check engine" to disappear from the instrument panel. However, alas, this does not always happen, and this icon really warns of serious problems with the motor.

Running out of fuel

Most often, drivers have to contemplate this particular indicator on the instrument panel. And God forbid that only such signals are noticed by all car owners throughout the entire operation of their cars.

Usually, when the “fuel” indicator on a passenger car lights up, the minimum range is about 50 kilometers. But many manufacturers in powerful models increase this resource to 100, and even 150 km.

A wrench-shaped information icon appears on the instrument panel when it is time for vehicle maintenance. After each MOT, the masters in the car service reset it.

This indicator can be ignored for the time being only in dry weather, when precipitation is unlikely. Usually this is a warm season, during which drivers completely forget about the existence of "wipers".

And by the way, the lack of washer fluid in a car is illegal, and under Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, a fine of 500 rubles is provided for this. And it is categorically dangerous not to pay attention to this in the cold season, since the violation of visibility leads to serious accidents.

Rest required

It just so happened that the average Russian car owner does not trust the latest technologies that are used in modern cars as driver assistants.

And, therefore, if, for example, in a car there was such an excess as the notorious driver fatigue control function, then most of our compatriots, when they see a signal about its malfunction, are unlikely to immediately rush to a car service. This also applies to other additional means of active safety, which our brother most often sneezes on.

Unlike the aforementioned smart features, the stability control system is installed by default in the vast majority of modern cars.

However, many drivers also do not consider the appearance of a signal on the instrument panel about the failure of this function to be a disaster. Especially when it comes to dry and hot summers. Although, sooner or later, before the start of frost, it is better to solve this problem, since in an extreme situation on a slippery road it can save a life.
