TEST: Kia e-Niro electric car travels 500 kilometers without recharging [video]

Youtuber Bjorn Nyland tested the electric Kia e-Niro / Niro EV in South Korea. Driving calmly and obediently in hilly terrain, he managed to cover 500 kilometers on the battery, and he had 2 percent of the charge left to get to the nearest charger.

Nyland tested the car by driving between both coasts of South Korea, east and west, and finally wandered around the city. He managed to travel 500 kilometers with an average energy consumption of 13,1 kWh / 100 km:

The skills of Nyland, who privately drives a Tesla, certainly helped with fuel-efficient driving. However, the terrain was a problem: South Korea is a hilly country, so the car rose several hundred meters above sea level and then descended towards it.

The average speed over the entire distance was 65,7 km / h, which is not some kind of stunning result. A normal driver in Poland who decides to go to the sea - even according to the rules! - more like 80+ kilometers per hour. Therefore, it should be expected that with such a ride on a single charge, the car will be able to drive a maximum of 400-420 kilometers.

Out of curiosity, it is worth adding that after 400 kilometers, the car's on-board computer showed that 90 percent of the energy goes into driving. The air conditioning - 29 degrees outside, driver only - consumed only 3 percent, and the electronics consumed an immeasurable amount of energy:

Chargers, chargers everywhere!

Nyuland was surprised by the roadside parking lots, the equivalents of Polish MOPs (Travel Service Areas): wherever youtuber decided to stop for a break, there was at least one fast charger. There were usually more of them.

Kia e-Niro / Niro EV vs Hyundai Kona Electric

Nyland previously tested the Hyundai Kona Electric and expected the e-Niro/Niro EV to be 10 percent less efficient. It turned out that the difference is about 5 percent to the detriment of the electric Niro. It's worth adding that both cars have the same drivetrain and 64kWh battery, but the Kona Electric is shorter and slightly lighter.
