 Our natural propensity to save is irritated by the constant rise in fuel prices, which is why some drivers are willing to use products that, in a simple and inexpensive way, should make our car “better” in terms of performance, power and, most importantly, reduce fuel consumption. The automotive accessory market is coming in with the help of budget-conscious motorists offering magnetizers, ceramizers® and the lesser-known HHO gas generators, among others.

The former, according to commercial information from one of the largest Polish distributors, “reduce fuel consumption while increasing engine power and dynamics. In gas installations and cars, they are so amazing that they are unbelievable.” It sounds encouraging, as does the price, which, depending on the engine size, ranges from several tens to several hundred zlotys.

The principle of operation is as simple as assembly. The fact is that the magnetizing element placed on the section of the fuel line must interact with the magnetic field, thereby ionizing the fuel particles (they receive a positive charge). For best results, manufacturers recommend using a second magnetizer to magnetize the oxygen molecules and give them a negative charge. The intended effect is a more efficient combination of oxygen and fuel molecules in the cylinder chamber. A more homogeneous mixture means a more efficient combustion process and fuel savings.

Reduced fuel consumption by almost 20%. they must also guarantee certain improvements. A model example is the popular ceramizers®, i.e. preparations for repair, regeneration and protection of rubbing surfaces of metal parts. After application, the liquid reacts with the metal, "creating" a ceramic coating, which should provide increased compression pressure in the cylinders, smooth engine operation, and reduce the so-called. smoking, noise and oil and fuel consumption. The results should be visible after you drive a few hundred kilometers. There is a wide range of "ceramizing" preparations on the market, designed for engines, fuel cleaning, as well as designed for gearboxes and other systems that require lubrication. The cost of PLN 60 for the purchase of ceramizer® for four-stroke internal combustion engines (gasoline, diesel, LPG) does not seem excessive.

The devices use the process of water electrolysis, as a result of which we get a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, which increases the energy value of the fuel-air mixture. The combustion of gasoline or diesel fuel can be reduced by up to 35%, manufacturers emphasize and believe that about 1500 liters of Brown's gas can be obtained from a liter of water. Unfortunately, what looks promising in theory is actually problematic. The barrier to trouble-free use is the current consumption required to maintain electrolysis. It is estimated that the device requires 10 to 20 Ah, which is much higher than the average generator power. Therefore, the inclusion of lights or wipers is out of the question.

Conclusion, the device becomes useless in small cars with a small 12V battery. Even if we take into account free information on the Internet on how to build a generator with our own funds, it will be difficult for us to limit ourselves to an amount of several hundred zlotys, which is a lot for an undeveloped technology. We add that ready-made devices can be purchased on auction portals from about 350 to 700 zł.

When deciding to buy any of the above solutions, remember that the technical knowledge of automotive concerns has been accumulated and developed over several decades. Therefore, it is doubtful to say that, knowing about the incredible advantages of these products, they did not dare to introduce such solutions into mass-produced cars, especially in the era of "environmental madness".

How to drive more economically I've been improving engines to run more efficiently for 35 years and from my experience with magnetizers, I can say that I've never experienced the manufacturer's claimed increase in power, torque, or fuel consumption. It is possible that the described benefits are obtained in laboratory conditions.

I also had the opportunity to test the results of popular ceramizers, and I must emphasize that this is a product with a positive effect on the engine. Can be used prophylactically in new and old engines. So far I have not been able to detect any increase in extra power and reduction in fuel consumption in engines in which I have used Ceramizer, there has been a noticeable increase in in-cylinder compression pressure.

Innovative solutions that manufacturers “improve” have not found wider application in mass production.

HHO generators, as an alternative source of clean energy, need electricity, and it takes a laborious process to get the right amount of gas. The ratio of energy received to work expended is small.

Ceramizers, as another product, don't really work. The achieved improvement in the coefficient of friction, which directly leads to a reduction in fuel consumption, is close to zero. Magnetizers are designed to positively charge the particles, which breaks them down into individual charges - complete combustion of the mixture means better exhaust gas quality - does this mean less combustion?

To sum up, improving the efficiency of engines and other components is certainly a good intention, but when it comes to the need for large investments, it is usually not profitable.
