Wonka's Hoof Guide: How to Remove Trees and Bushes
Step 1 - Trim Branches
If the tree or shrub you are removing is intact (not yet fallen or cut down), trim the branches to a manageable size. If the barrel is not weak or very thick and stiff, leave it intact as you can use it as leverage later.
Step 2 - Digging a trench
Using a shovel, dig a trench about the width of a shovel around the base of the plant. The wider the radius between the plant and the edge of the trench, the easier this process will be.
Step 3 - Break Through the Roots
After your trench is dug, use the chisel on the digger blade to break through the roots by raising it up and down a few times.
Remember that momentum is the key here, so get as high as you can before lowering it down again - that way gravity does most of the work!
Step 4 - Break Through the Roots (continued)
Insert the plank into the trench, close to the base of the plant, and move it back and forth to loosen stubborn roots.
Step 5 - Raise the Stump
From time to time try to raise the stump; using the bar point down as a lever. If it doesn't move when you press the bar, repeat steps 3-4 and check again.
Eventually, the stump will begin to move, signaling that it is almost ready for complete removal.Continue to lift the stump up and cut through any remaining roots until it is completely torn off.
Now you can remove and get rid of the unwanted plant!
