V-Blocks can be used to hold round workpieces horizontally under a milling or drilling machine. This is useful if you need to machine the body of a metal cylinder or pipe. | |
Step 1 - List your sharesPlace the workpiece in the V-channel of the V-block and turn the clamp threaded nut until it contacts the workpiece. | |
The part should now be firmly held in place. | |
If you are working on a particularly long cylindrical workpiece, you may need more than one block. | |
Step 2 - Install the V BlockPlace the wedge block in a vise or T-slots on the machine. The block must be positioned horizontally so that the longest side of the block is parallel to the machine table. | |
Now you are ready to start processing the workpiece. |
