There are many types of radiator hoses, all mostly made of rubber - although rubber wears out pretty quickly, it's still the best hose material.

First, pay attention to a few things about radiator hoses:

• There are two different radiator hoses and both are required for the system to work.

• Make sure you check which of the two hoses - the top one or the bottom one - is damaged so you get the right hose for your problem. If you're not sure which hose is damaged, there's a top/bottom hose combo that fits both the top and bottom.

• There are different radiator hoses depending on your vehicle, so be sure to check your owner's manual to select the correct radiator hose option.

The three types of hoses are bellows, molded hoses, and regular hoses, and each hose does its job a little differently. When you're ready to buy a new hose, there are two main options to consider:

• Molded hoses: Molded hoses can be made from custom silicone or stainless steel and are pre-shaped to individual OEM requirements. These special types of hoses have been designed to make it easier to connect to the radiator and also to allow the coolant to flow freely. However, they are not suitable for all car models.

• Flexible hoses: The flexible radiator hoses have a corrugated sheath that easily bends to fit. They are designed to OEM specifications and contain silicone rubber to help them mold into the correct shape easily.
