If you have a spacious heated garage, then this is not a problem, the main thing is that the water can safely drain from the body. However, not everyone has such “heavenly” conditions. Washing your car in the cold is not only bad for your car body, but also for your own health, so read on for tips to help keep your car body clean in the most extreme cold:

  1. The most important rule, although it sounds trite, is to drive the car to the sink;
  2. We watch how the car is washed - car wash workers can relax and somehow wipe the body, but this is no good, water penetrates into small cracks, freezes in the cold and the consequences are not the best; make sure that the washers do their job carefully, special attention should be paid to problem areas - the space under the wings;
  3. After washing, the body must be dried with warm air, special attention should be paid to the door and trunk locks, as well as the tank hatch, otherwise it will all freeze in an instant and you will not be able to insert the key into the keyhole, and you will have to look for boiling water to open the doors;
  4. When you left the box, turn off the engine, open the doors and trunk, raise the wipers, all the remaining water will evaporate or freeze and you will not need to think later how to tear off the frozen wipers or open the trunk;
  5. Treat the locks with a “weed” - WD-40 - an anti-corrosion agent, or “Anti-freeze”.

These are elementary rules that all motorists should know. In addition, there are various methods by which to maintain the cleanliness of the body for a longer time:

  • polishing with hot wax is an expensive procedure, but you will protect the body from the influence of all those reagents that pour tons onto the roadway and harm rubber, body coating and pedestrian shoes;
  • polishing the body will also protect the coating from the formation of small invisible cracks, water getting into them and freezing, slowly but surely leads to corrosion;
  • it is better to wash the car before the trip, because while driving, natural ventilation will prevent the paint from cracking due to temperature changes, do not wash the car in the evening when you are going to leave it in the parking lot, after a warm box, the temperature difference will negatively affect the paintwork.
