How not to get a ticket "for nothing" on a country road

The summer season, when crowds of car owners break out into the expanses of high-speed suburban highways, is just around the corner. And most of them do not even suspect what they can expect there this summer.

In this case, we are talking about such a widespread violation of traffic rules as driving in the left lane with empty right ones. On the Internet, for such citizens, even a diagnosis was invented: “left-handedness of the brain.” The ban on such a style of driving is directly spelled out in the Rules of the Road. Paragraph 9.4 reads: “Outside built-up areas, as well as in built-up areas on roads marked with sign 5.1 or 5.3 or where traffic at a speed of more than 80 km/h is allowed, drivers of vehicles should drive them as close as possible to the right edge of the carriageway. It is forbidden to occupy the left lanes when the right lanes are free.

It is clear that in order to overtake slower colleagues, trucks and other slow vehicles, it is necessary to leave the left lane of multi-lane highways from time to time. But many drivers are too lazy to do this all the time, and they just drive in the far left lane all the time. Moreover, many of them at the same time keep the speed even lower than the maximum allowed in this area. And they are also indignant when faster cars “rest against” the trunk of their cars and, by blinking headlights, offer to “move over”. "Left lane of the brain" is punishable by the article part 1 of article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

It implies a fine of 1500 rubles for “violating the rules for the location of a vehicle on the carriageway, the oncoming siding, as well as driving along the roadsides or crossing an organized transport or pedestrian convoy or taking a seat in it.” But at the same time, something is not heard not only about mass, but even about isolated cases of drawing up protocols on drivers by traffic cops under this article. After all, only a living policeman can be fined for “left-handedness”, but an automatic fixation complex cannot. Until recently, the leadership of the traffic police officially did not encourage the desire of inspectors to "jackal" through the bushes on the highways, rightly suspecting that this activity breeds corruption. But lately, the "trend" seems to have changed: the draft of the new traffic police regulations has a direct permission to stop cars outside stationary posts without any explanation of the reasons, just to "check documents."

In this regard, one can expect an increase in “popularity” among the broad masses of roadside policemen of the protocol for “left lane with free right”. Firstly, because everyone who wants to feed on the route of traffic cops will not be attacked by “pilots” exceeding the speed limit by 59 km / h (a fine of 1000-1500 rubles), and “left-rowers” are an unplowed field.
