To disconnect the car from the supercharger, you first need to open it, that is, open it with a key or approach the car with a key, depending on the model. We will not disconnect the car from the charger when it is closed, because the lock on the plug is also locked, which protects against unauthorized disconnection of Tesla.

Also, always remember that you have to press to disable and keep button on the plug. Only when the port is highlighted in white can you disconnect.

Additionally, some newer X models require a Tesla dealer to adjust the charging port. Without it, the cable can actually get stuck in the outlet.

Charging port illumination colors

White / cold blue solid color it is just the left light that is active when the lid is open but the machine is not connected to anything.

Solid blue means communication with an external device. When connected to a regular charger or Supercharger, it is usually visible for up to a second. However, it can be active for longer while Tesla waits for charging at a certain time.

Green pulsating color means that the connection is established and the car is charging. If the blinking gets slower, the car is close to charging.

Solid green means the vehicle is charged.

Yellow pulsating color (some say green-yellow) indicates that the cable is too shallow and too loose. Tighten the cable.

Red color indicates a charging error. Check the display of the charger or vehicle.

If individual LEDs have a different color, this is a defect that should be reported the next time you visit a Tesla dealership. The port will be replaced with a new one.
