However, it only takes a few basic steps to transfer ownership of a car in Wyoming.
Information for buyers
If you are buying a car from a private individual, there are a few things you need to do to ensure that ownership can be transferred to your name. Here they are:
Make sure the seller has completed the back of the title, including the section of the affidavit that lists the vehicle's mileage, condition, and purchase price.
Make sure the seller signs the title to you.
Be sure to get a release from the bond from the seller.
Work with the seller to complete the bill of sale.
Complete the Title Deed Application and VIN/HIN Verification Form.
Have proof that the vehicle passed the VIN check and your identity/state of residence.
Bring all of this information to the county clerk's office, along with the transfer of title, fees, and taxes. Please note that each county has different costs.

As a car seller, you need to follow these steps:

Inheritance and donation of a car
If you are gifting or donating your car, the procedure is the same as above. However, be aware that each county in Wyoming has its own unique characteristics, so be sure to check with the county clerk's office before taking any action.
