Step 1 - Clamp the WorkpieceClamp the workpiece in a vise, clamp, or workbench stop, making sure that the entire surface or edge to be ground is above the clamping parts, allowing easy access to the workpiece surface.
Step 2 - Bend the ScraperGently fold the sides of the cabinet scraper back toward you, pressing down on the center with your thumbs. This will create a curve in the scraper that will grip the wood and act as a cutting edge. If the scraper is not curved, the blade will be less effective, removing little material from the surface of the wood.
Step 3 - Angle ScraperSlightly tilt the top of the cabinet scraper away from you.
Step 4 - Positioning the ScraperPlace the bottom of the cabinet scraper on the end of the board closest to you.
Step 5 - Clean the workpieceWith your hands, push the scraper along the workpiece, holding the slight curve of the scraper with your thumb. Run the scraper over the entire surface.
Step 6 - Finish cleaningRepeat steps 4 and 5 until the surface of the wood is even and smooth. |
