How to Get the A2 ASE Study Guide and Practice Test
Whether you're an experienced mechanic or an aspiring technician with just a few years of automotive mechanic training, you know that earning an ASE certification can increase your attractiveness to employers and increase your earning potential. ASE - or the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence - provides mechanics with the opportunity to earn Master Technician status by completing any of over 40 certifications. The A series allows you to be certified as an automotive and light truck repairer. There are nine exams, A1-A9, however, only A1-A8 (plus two years of relevant work experience) is required for master status.

The Test Prep page also contains a link to information about the prep test. These tests are only conducted online and are available through the voucher system. Purchasing access to one or two practice tests will cost you $14.95 per test. Prices decrease as the number of vouchers purchased increases; more than two but less than 25 vouchers cost $12.95 each and 25 or more vouchers cost $11.95 each.
Once you purchase an A2 ASE practice test voucher, a code will be generated immediately. This code is valid for 60 days and can be used to access the test of your choice. Each practice test is only provided in one version, so you cannot practice different test scenarios using a different voucher on the same test.
The practice tests available on the ASE website are half the length of the real ones. After you complete the practice version, you will receive feedback on the performance report, as well as explanations of the questions you answered correctly and incorrectly.

Of course, there are many other websites that claim to offer ASE practice tests and study materials. We strongly recommend that you use the official versions on the organization's website to make sure you get the most accurate information. Since you have to pay for each test you take, you don't want to waste valuable time and money due to insufficient preparation. If you decide to try and get the A2 ASE tutorials and practice tests from an unofficial source, be sure to read the site's reviews first to make sure they aren't dubious.
Passing the test
All Automotive Service Excellence certification tests are now run on computers. Written tests have been discontinued. You can take ASE tests any time of the year, and the organization even provides weekend testing times. One of the main advantages of this type of testing is that your results will be available immediately. The A2 ASE test contains 50 multiple choice questions. You may notice that the real exam consists of supplementary questions - supplemental questions are used for statistical purposes only. The assessment part of the exam is no different from the rest, so you still have to answer each question as if it was considered important.
