How to change antifreeze for Hyundai Accent

To maintain the normal temperature of the engine in the Hyundai Accent, aka TagAZ, it is necessary to periodically change the coolant. This simple operation is easy to do with your own hands, if you clearly follow the instructions and follow the necessary steps.

Stages of replacing the coolant Hyundai Accent

Since there is no drain plug on the engine, it is best to replace it when the cooling system is completely flushed. This will completely remove the old antifreeze from the system and replace it with a new one.

The best replacement option would be the presence of a pit or overpass, for more convenient access to the drainage holes. Instructions for replacing the coolant will be useful to owners of the following Hyundai models:

• Hyundai Accent (restyled Hyundai Accent);
• Hyundai Accent Tagaz;
• Hyundai Verna;
• Hyundai Excel;
• Hyundai Pony.

Petrol engines of 1,5 and 1,3 liters are popular, as well as a diesel version with a 1,5-liter engine. There are models with a different displacement, but more often they were sold in other markets.

Draining the coolant

All work must be carried out with the engine cooled down to 50 ° C and below, so that there is time for preparatory work. It is necessary to remove the engine protection, as well as the protective plastic, which is fastened with 5 x 10 mm cap screws, as well as 2 plastic plugs.

Let's move on to the main process:

1. We find a plastic drain plug at the bottom of the radiator and unscrew it, after substituting a container under this place into which the old antifreeze will drain (Fig. 1).
2. Open the radiator cap to speed up the drain process (fig. 2).
3. We remove the expansion tank to flush and drain it, as sediment often forms at its bottom. Which can sometimes be removed only mechanically, for example with a brush.
4. Since there is no drain plug in the block head, we will drain it from the hose that goes from the thermostat to the pump. It is not convenient to remove the clamp with pliers, from the word for nothing. Therefore, we select the correct key, loosen the clamp and tighten the pipe (Fig. 3).

In this way, it was possible to completely drain the antifreeze from the Hyundai Accent, so that you can pick everything up and put it in its place. After that, you can proceed to the next stage of replacement.

Flushing the cooling system

Before flushing, we check that all the pipes are in place, and the drain valve is closed and go directly to the procedure itself:

1. Fill the radiator with distilled water to the top and close the cap, also fill the expansion tank to half.
2. We start the car and wait for it to warm up completely, until about the second turn on of the fan. In this case, you can periodically refuel.
3. We turn off the car, wait until the engine cools down, drain the water.
4. Repeat the procedure until the water after washing becomes clear.

Clear water usually comes out after 2-5 cycles. Each case is individual and depends on many factors.

After high-quality flushing, the antifreeze of our Accent will fully work until the next service replacement. If this procedure is not followed, the period of use can be greatly reduced, since plaque and decomposed additives from the old coolant remain in the system.

Filling without air pockets

If the replacement is carried out with a complete flush of the system, it is recommended to use a concentrate as a new fluid. Since distilled water remains in the system, in a volume of 1-1,5 liters. The concentrate must be diluted according to this volume.

Now we begin to pour new antifreeze into the radiator to the level of the bypass pipe, as well as to the middle of the expansion tank. Then close the covers and start the engine. We are waiting for a complete warm-up, sometimes increasing the speed.

That's all, now we are waiting for the engine to cool down, we check the fluid level in the radiator and reservoir. Make sauce if necessary. We fill the tank to the letter F.

With this approach, an air lock should not form in the system. But if it appears, and the engine overheats because of this, then the following steps must be performed. We put the car on a hill so that the front end is raised.

We start the engine, warm it up with a constant increase in speed up to 2,5-3 thousand. At the same time, we look at the temperature readings, we must not allow the engine to overheat. Then we unscrew and slightly open the radiator cap so that it does not come off, but air can escape.

Usually the airbag can then be removed. But sometimes this procedure must be repeated 2-3 times.

Frequency of replacement, which antifreeze to fill

According to the operating instructions, as well as the manufacturer's recommendations, antifreeze should be replaced with a Hyundai Accent Tagaz every 40 km. After this period, the basic functions deteriorate sharply. Protective and anti-corrosion additives cease to act.

Car enthusiasts use standard G12 or G11 coolants to replace, guided by their knowledge, as well as the advice of friends. But the manufacturer recommends using original antifreeze for Hyundai Accent.

On the territory of Russia, you can find Hyundai Long Life Coolant and Crown LLC A-110 for sale. Both are original antifreezes that can be used in cars of this brand. The first is produced in Korea, and the second has the country of origin of the Russian Federation.

Leaks and problems
