How to prepare the sacrament at home?

The First Holy Communion party is a topic that keeps some parents up at night. If you prepare properly, you can organize them at home and enjoy this holiday..

/

The first Holy Communion is an important day for the child and parents. Therefore, it is quite natural to celebrate it with family and friends. "In our days", that is, in the XNUMXs and early XNUMXs, even big parties were held at home. In an era of restaurants, inns, and bistros, preparing a dinner for twenty people may seem impossible. Step by step, I will show that it is not only possible, but also much cheaper, more pleasant and, above all, strengthens the bond with the child.

One month before communion

  • Together with your child, think about who you want to spend this day with - with your grandmother, grandfather, uncle, godfather. Make a guest list. The First Holy Communion is not a birthday, so meetings with other friends and colleagues from the yard can be rescheduled for another date.
  • Prepare invitations, write them together and mail or hand them in person.
  • Make sure you have the required number of chairs and utensils. You may need to borrow something from your family.
  • If you do not have enough cutlery, a month before the holiday, you should order the appropriate number of plates, glasses, cups, cutlery and chairs from a catering rental. The rental office also often offers clean and ironed white tablecloths.

Two weeks before communion

  • Order a cake. Let it be exactly the taste that your child likes. It doesn't have to be an English cake richly decorated with sugar decorations. It can be an ordinary cake, the main thing is that the child likes it. This is his day.
  • Discuss the menu with your child. Think about what dishes can be prepared in advance, what tastes your child likes. You will need appetizers: plates of cold cuts and cheeses, vegetables for appetizers or salad, soup, main course and fruit. The easiest soup to make is broth or cream soup - they are easy to heat up and they are to everyone's taste. For the second, I recommend fried meat, preferably in the style of beef stew, beef burgundy or cheeks. You can cook them the night before and when you get home, just heat them up in the oven. Served with boiled potatoes, cereals and beets, they always taste good. Kids often prefer simpler flavors—they can make meatballs that are easy to reheat, or chicken cutlets (which are also reheated in the oven after they get home). Avoid foods that require vigorous cooking, such as chops. There is nothing worse than standing by the pot and waiting for the last person to get their portion.
  • Order jewelry.

The table should be elegant - probably, this is the first elegant dinner in honor of the child, which he will definitely remember. It is worth buying napkins - white or gold. The table can be decorated with fresh flowers. This is a good time to order white margaritas or tulips from your local flower shop.

One week before communion

  • Make a detailed shopping list. Look at what dishes you are preparing, calculate the required amount of ingredients. It is usually considered that an adult eats about 150 ml of soup, 150 g of meat, 100 g of potatoes and 100 g of vegetables in the form of a salad. If you want to cook, for example, beef cheeks, order them. Meat dishes can be served with buckwheat or pearl barley. Grains love dishes with sauce. You can also prepare cereal in advance.
  • Add juices, drinks, tea, coffee, lemons for tea, fruits, meats and cheeses for starters and what you and your child like (our child ordered a white chocolate coconut praline for communion that matched the color of the table decor, colorful jelly beans with nuts and a bowl of dried fruit, which she loves).

Two days before communion

  • Shop with your baby

The day before communion

  • Take dishes and chairs if you are borrowing them.
  • Raise the flowers
  • Assemble the cake
  • Prepare a meat dish
  • Prepare vegetables for the second course and arrange in salad bowls
  • cook soup
  • buy bread
  • Take out the oil so it's soft in the morning
  • In the evening, prepare a table with your child and decorate it together.

communion in the morning

  • Prepare a plate of side dishes and put it in the fridge
  • Slice the bread and cover it so it doesn't dry out.
  • Peel the potatoes and leave them in a pot of cold water, or boil the grits and hide them in bedding (this will keep them warm and fluffy when you get home)
  • Gently reheat the meat in the oven - if it is hot on the way to church, it will heat up faster.
  • Relax - today the most important thing is the child and his Holy Communion

When you come home from church, invite guests to the table, let them talk to the child, put plates of snacks and bread on the table. Turn on the potatoes, start heating the meat and soup. Everything is ready, so sit down, talk and enjoy this beautiful day.
