How to attach a trellis to a wall without drilling (methods and steps)

In this guide, I'll help you figure out how to fix a grate to a wall without drilling holes.

Stucco is a common choice for cladding in hot desert climates due to its energy efficiency, low cost, component availability, and fire resistance. However, as many stucco homeowners will admit, stucco is difficult to drill through. Familiarizing yourself with other alternatives (instead of drilling) will save you the time, energy, and cost of cutting holes to attach the trellis to the wall.

How to add grating to a wall without drilling

Step 1. Prepare the trellis and wall. Assess your grate before starting installation.

  • Sleepers should not be flush with the wall; rather, at least 2 inches must be left between the wall surface and the trellis for the plants to thrive. If your trellis does not allow 2 inches of space for your plants, you will need to adjust it.
  • Scrub the area where the grate will hang with a cleaning brush and cleaning agent to remove dirt and grime.

Step 2. Fill the bottle-shaped plate with silicone (supplied with the grate) and press it against the wall. Leave the silicone on overnight.

The spots should look like below:

Step 3. Pass the wire through the clamps or bottle plates as shown below, but on a plastered wall.

The final impression should be like below:

Tips

  • Read the adhesive manufacturer's instructions to ensure proper use and precautions.
  • Pay attention to the timer and any other instructions that will affect how the glue is applied.

Additional assistance may be required to keep the trellis in place for an appropriate period of time.

Add Trelis to brick without drilling

Method 1: Use Brick Wall Hooks

The brick wall hook is best for attaching wood to brick without drilling. These hooks are designed for brick walls, even sloping ones. They are durable, removable and do not contain any glue (hold up to 25 lbs).

They can be installed almost instantly, without drilling holes.

Use a brick clamp if you need a stronger suspension that can hold up to 30 pounds.

These are durable clips for indoor and outdoor use and can be painted any color.

Method 2: use brick Velcro

Another popular option is to use brick Velcro, which is suitable for outdoor use.

It is also suitable for indoor use to support up to 15 pounds securely. It will be up to you and whether you like Velcro glue.

Again, no drills, nails, or unnecessary glues or epoxies are required.

More wall options

1. Use nails

Nails are another option for attaching small light wood products to brick. This will create holes in the brick.

This method can help you temporarily install wood on brick.

Step 1. To start using this method, you must first mark the location and alignment of the wood on the brick wall.

Step 2. Then hammer the nails into the brick with a hammer.

2. Use double-sided adhesive tape

Another option for small, lightweight wooden items is mounting tape on a brick wall.

Procedure:

  1. Look for mounting tape that is easy to remove and leaves no residue.
  2. Clean the area where the tape will be applied and let it dry.
  3. After the brick has dried, mark where the wood is attached to the brick.
  4. Then take a strong double-sided tape and cut it to size.
  5. Attach them to the wall with a few pieces of tape. Attach them to the wall and test them for strength.
