How to deregister a car 2014

In October 2013, a new order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs came into force, canceling the need to deregister the car. You need to remove it from the register only in two cases:

• recycling;
• sale to another country.

In all other situations, deregistration of the car now occurs automatically when the car is registered to a new owner, and he also receives your license plates.

To deregister, you will need the following package of documents:

• STS and PTS - certificate and passport of your car;
• passport.

If you use a car by proxy, then you also need a notarized copy of it.

When you have all the necessary documents on hand, go with them to the nearest MREO. Under the new rules, you do not have to go exactly to the branch where your car was registered.

In MREO, you must first receive an application for deregistration. To do this, we take a queue to the desired window, then hand over all the documents and wait until the application is handed over to you. It must be read carefully and signed.

After that, with the application and the documents received back, you need to go to the site for inspection. Here, your car will be examined by a forensic expert, who must determine whether your car is wanted. The inspector may refuse to inspect your car if it is dirty, license plates are not visible, the VIN code and other unit numbers are hidden under a layer of dirt and rust. Therefore, you need to take care of the appearance of your car, wash it yourself or visit a car wash.

After the inspection, the forensic specialist will put you the appropriate mark in the application. We pay a receipt at any bank and again take a turn. In the window you hand over again all the documents and plus clean registration numbers. After some time, you will be called, your passport, PTS and transits will be returned. The certificate of the vehicle remains in the MREO, and in the TCP they put a mark on the deregistration of the car.

Transit numbers are valid for 20 days. If during this time you do not have time to drive the car to another country, then you will have to pay a fine of 500-800 rubles.

If the car is being scrapped, you will not be given numbers, but only a recycling certificate.
