How to remove the door trim on VAZ and foreign cars

Drivers of domestic cars often face standard problems: the power window is broken, the door needs to be insulated, the glass is jammed, the handle for opening the doors is broken. To solve these problems, you have to remove the door trim. The process of removing the door trim is not the most difficult, but if you have a foreign car with power windows and heating, then you should approach this work very carefully and follow the instructions in everything.

Foreign cars: for most models - Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW

Any car model has its own structural features of the door and trim, but there are also common points. Before proceeding with the removal of the front door trim, disconnect the negative battery terminal, then proceed as follows:

unscrew the bolts that fix the handle with built-in power windows;
if you remove the front door trim, remove the rear-view mirror cover from the plastic latches;
if a glove compartment is built into the door, we also remove it from the plastic latches and unscrew the bolts with a Phillips screwdriver;
in the lower part we find the screws for fastening the skin and unscrew them;
the door lock must also be unscrewed.

When all the elements are removed, you need to take a flat screwdriver and carefully insert it between the lining and the metal of the door and disconnect the plastic fasteners - clips. The instructions must necessarily indicate exactly where the clips are located, for example, Priora has 8 of them - 4 on top and two each in front and behind, in the lower part the casing is not fastened with clips, but with fastening screws.

How to remove the door trim on VAZ and foreign cars

It is not possible to remove the skin at sub-zero temperatures, since the plastic can crack if you do not calculate the force and push harder than necessary on the response.

In the same way, you need to remove the trim of the rear doors. If we take for example the same Lada Priora, then on the rear doors there are 10 plastic clips located around the perimeter of the door.

In some models, in order to remove the door trim, you also have to remove the seal, for example, in the Ford Focus. All these works should be done very carefully so as not to lose various small parts, which then will be problematic to find in the car, and even more so on sale.

When you remember the location of the clips, or caps (as they are also called), then installing the skin back will not be difficult.
