If you want to save your car at any cost, here are some tips to follow to get it back in working order:
Don't start your car
First of all, be careful! You will not need to start the engine or even turn on the ignition. This could cause a water short circuit.
Pump out water
Try to drain the water from the vehicle interior as soon as possible. This will prevent rusting and damage to electronic components. Open all doors of the car to dry as quickly as possible.
Disconnect the battery
You must disconnect the car battery, the heart of the electronic system, so that there is no risk of damaging your car. To find out how to disconnect the battery, click here
Removing the candles
The most important thing that will help drain the water from the cylinders is to remove the spark plugs. Check fuel tank. Test your fuel tank by pumping out two gallons of fuel. If you see that water has leaked into the tank, pump out all the fuel and fill it up. Use a fuel siphon.
Check engine oil
Make sure no water gets into the oil. If you see that the oil level is higher than the maximum, and the fluid is light brown, you need to replace it.
Drain the exhaust pipe.
Raise the front of the car to let the water flow naturally. If it doesn't work properly, you will have to disassemble the exhaust pipe and empty it.
Wash the interior of your car
Wash the car interior (seats and carpet) and disinfect them.
