As every year, it is necessary to check whether the cooling system, or rather its contents, is prepared for the arrival of frost.

First, make sure the fluid in the cooling system is still usable. It defines him vehicle manufacturer, and the relevant information can be found in the manual. Some fluids need to be changed every few years or after a certain mileage, while others do not. This does not mean that a liquid that has not yet expired should not be of interest. We need it right now, before negative temperatures appear.

In practice, it all comes down to controlling the amount of liquid in the system and measuring its freezing point. While the first step presents no problems, the second requires the use of the appropriate tool. Fortunately, such a coolant tester is not an expensive device and you can buy one for about a dozen zlotys. On the occasion of such a test, it is also worth paying attention to the appearance of the liquid. If the freezing point of the liquid is not lower than -35 degrees Celsius, the liquid is transparent, no impurities are visible in it - you can be sure that it will cope in winter. If not, then the liquid should be replaced and preferably with the original one, although it is permissible to use a different cooling system when replacing the liquid, but suitable for this type of cooling system. On the other hand, draining a certain amount of liquid that has an elevated freezing point and adding another to get the right solution can do more harm than good. Different fluids may react undesirably with each other, which can lead to rapid loss of performance or the formation of unnecessary deposits. Better not to experiment.
