How to restore TCP 2014 - theft, loss

Despite the fact that the driver is not obliged to carry a vehicle with him, it is impossible to do without a vehicle passport when passing technical inspections. Therefore, if you find that the passport for your car is missing, you need to immediately restore it.

Lawyers recommend contacting the police with a statement about the theft, but most drivers tend to think that this is a waste of time, because the document will not be found anyway, and you will have to wait for a certificate of termination of the theft case, so that later attach it to the application for the restoration of the TCP. Although it also makes sense to contact the police - the PTS will be invalidated and scammers will not be able to use it.

So, to restore the PTS, you need:

• contact the traffic police department in which your car is registered;
• write an application for the restoration of the TCP, while indicating that the document disappeared under unclear circumstances;
• write an explanatory note addressed to the head of the MREO, in which you indicate the make and number of the car;
• attach a standard package of documents to the application - passport, OSAGO, STS;
• sometimes it may be necessary to inspect the car if it is old.

If the inspection of the car is still necessary, then you need to make sure that it is clean, especially the registration numbers and all the numbers that are under the hood, otherwise the inspector may refuse to inspect until your car is in proper condition.

After the inspection, the inspector makes his notes in the application and you also hand it over along with the rest of the documents. The state duty for restoration is 500 rubles. The window will tell you when the document will be ready - from a few hours to two weeks. At the specified time, you need to come to the window in the MREO and get a duplicate of the TCP.
