There are fines and taxes on the sold car, what should I do?

Former owners of cars sometimes face the fact that they receive “letters of happiness” for fines committed by new owners, as well as taxes from the Federal Tax Service. The reasons for this fact may be as follows:

  • the car was sold by proxy and is registered with the old owner;
  • the car was not registered or re-registered to the new owner.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is to call a person and demand that he pay fines and register a car in accordance with all the rules. But this is unlikely to help if you happen to contact a scammer. There are several ways out of the situation.

If you received a notice of payment of a fine, then you should know that by law you are exempt from the fine if you were not driving at the time of the traffic violation or your car was transferred to another owner. To do this, in response to the decision, you must send a copy of the sales contract and your statement that you could not commit an offense to the address indicated.

The case will be investigated, your innocence will be proven, and those responsible will be punished.

If the car is sold by proxy, then things will be more complicated. You will either have to negotiate with the new owner and solve the problem by concluding a contract of sale. If this option does not work, you need to act tough:

  • write a statement about the search for a car;
  • write an application for the disposal of a car (an extremely tough option, but what to do?).

Your car will sooner or later be arrested and you will be notified about it. The new owner will have to re-register the car for himself and, of course, pay all fines and state duties.

Well, if you write an application for recycling, then after the arrest of the car, no one will be able to drive it, it will remain to be given away for scrap or sold for spare parts. This way you will be able to recover all losses.
