How to restore STS on a car

The owner of the car has to constantly carry a large number of documents with him: VU, vehicle certificate, OSAGO, MOT coupon. It is clear that sometimes a person may lose some of these documents. What to do if you cannot find a car registration certificate?

Firstly, the STS is a document that confirms your right to own your car. It contains all the information about your car and about you as its owner. If you get caught by a traffic police inspector, and you don’t have an STS, then under Article 12.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses you face a warning or a fine of 500 rubles.

To obtain a duplicate certificate, you need to contact the traffic police department. You can first apply, of course, to the police, but we all know that searching for documents is a disastrous business, most likely the case will be closed in three months without result. If you do not want to wait so long, then proceed as follows:

• take all the documents you have left - PTS, OSAGO, your passport;
• It is not necessary to show the car, however, the inspector may need to verify license plates, VIN code, body and engine numbers;
• in the department, write an application addressed to the head of the MREO with a request to assist in issuing a new vehicle registration certificate;
• pay the fee - 300 rubles, attach a payment receipt to all other documents;
• if you did not contact the police, but you are required to provide a certificate of termination of the criminal case, then write in the application that the fact of theft is excluded, and the document disappeared under unknown circumstances;
• after checking the documents and verifying all the license plates on your car, you will have to wait about three hours, during which time a duplicate of the STS will be made and an additional check will be carried out according to the traffic police databases for theft, theft and fines.

If you have lost your TCP, then the STS will also need to be redone, since it indicates the TCP number. The fee for the restoration of the TCP is 500 rubles.
