How to restore a driver's license, lost rights what to do

If you find that your rights have been lost, then you should not worry very much, since the recovery procedure is quite simple and will not take much time. But, before you go to the nearest traffic police registration point, make sure that the driver's license is really lost, and not drying in the pocket of recently washed trousers or lying under the seat. You can also write a statement to the police, but there is no guarantee that the rights will be found, moreover, a duplicate will be given to you only after the theft case is closed.

So, if you have lost your rights, you need to act as follows:

  • come to the traffic police department, fill out the application form, take your passport, 2 photos 3 by 4, a medical certificate, a driver's personal card or a certificate of issuing a VU;
  • 1-2 months are allocated for the issuance of new rights, you will be sent to pay the state duty to the bank - 500-800 rubles, depending on the region;
  • while your data is being verified, you will be issued a temporary certificate that will completely replace your VU for a period of 2 months, with which you can safely travel throughout Russia, a fee of 500 rubles is charged for a temporary VU.

As you can see, the process is quite simple, a temporary certificate has one drawback - you will not be able to travel abroad with it. The traffic police are very responsible for their work and they need 2 months to issue new rights in order to “break through” you through various bases, because there are often cases when a driver is deprived of his rights in one region, and he decides to fraudulently obtain new rights .

However, there are more difficult situations in life, for example, when you discover the loss of a VU at the very moment when traffic police officers stop you and ask you to show documents. In this case, you are threatened with:

  • Art. 12,3 part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, driving without documents for the right to drive a vehicle - a warning / fine of 500 rubles, or suspension from driving and detention of the vehicle;
  • Art. 12,7 part 1 - management without rights - a fine of five to 15 thousand, suspension and detention.

The traffic police officer has every right to detain you until the identity and circumstances are fully clarified. The only thing that can be advised is to explain the situation to him: here, they say, in the morning the rights were in the borset; call home and ask to look for rights, to search the car. In theory, you should check the availability of documents before leaving the garage. A few bills can save the situation, say that you are heading to the traffic police registration point. If the loss of rights has become news to you, leave the car at the nearest guarded parking lot, or in your garage, because there are many who want to profit from your misfortune until you get to the office.

Also, the restoration of a driver's license may be necessary in the following cases:

  • damage to the driver's license;
  • rights have expired;
  • name change (optional).

If a person received a driver's license, but then for a long time he did not have a driving practice, then it is not necessary to restore the rights during their validity period.

Exams on knowledge of traffic rules in case of replacement of rights due to their expiration date do not need to be passed, even if you have not had a driving practice for a long time. The procedure for changing the license itself takes approximately three hours and on the same day you can drive.

If you have changed your surname, then it is not necessary to change your rights, the main thing is to carry a marriage certificate or other document with you that will confirm that your surname has changed.
