How to choose the best display size for your car TV

TV displays installed in your car can entertain passengers when you are traveling short distances around the city or long distances across the country, allowing them to play games, watch movies, or even watch satellite TV with the right equipment. When buying a TV for your car, you need to determine the correct screen size for optimal viewing. When choosing the right display size, keep its location in mind and make sure it fits the available space.

Part 1 of 3. Choose a location

The location of the display will determine the size of the TV you can get. Some popular locations to mount the display inside your vehicle include the back of the front seat headrests, vehicle ceiling mount, sun visors, and dashboard. If it is installed in the dashboard or in the sun visor, the driver must be careful not to be distracted by the TV.

  • A warning: In-dash monitors are not recommended as they may distract the driver of the vehicle. You must limit the equipment built into the dashboard to GPS units, radio displays and other monitors related to vehicle operation. Regardless of the type of monitor installed, drivers should pay attention to the road and not the monitor while driving to avoid an accident.

Part 2 of 3: Measure fit

  • Masking tape
  • Roulette

Once you have determined the type of display you want to install in your car, measure the correct size. This requires you to tape the area where you plan to mount the display and then measure to get the screen size you need.

Step 1: Tape the area. Using adhesive tape, mark the location where you want to mount the TV.

When marking the area, do not forget to take into account the width of the TV frame. On newer, lighter models, the frame is usually smaller, so it's not such a big deal.

When installing a flip-down display, instead of marking out where the screen will be installed, mark where the bracket is to be placed.

  • Functions: When installing a flip-up display, consider the gap between the heads. The correct size display should allow passengers to get in and out of the car safely without hitting their heads. Flip-up displays are usually the same size as the brackets they are attached to.

Step 2: Measure the screen area. After marking the location where you plan to mount the display, measure it to get the correct screen size.

When measuring screen size, do so diagonally or from one corner to the opposite corner. This should bring you closer to the correct size.

Step 3. Contact the installers.. Be sure to check with the installation company you plan to use to customize your vehicle before purchasing a display.

Installers need to know if the display you choose will fit in the space provided. They can also tell you if any factors, such as the size of the frame or mounting bracket, could cause issues when installing the display.

Part 3 of 3: Buying a Display

Once you find the right display size and know where to place it, it's time to buy a screen. When purchasing a display, you can choose from several options, including buying it online, at a local store, or seeing what's available in your local newspaper's classified ads.

Step 1. Search the Internet. You can search websites on the Internet to find the right display.

Some great websites to visit include Best Buy, Crutchfield, and eBay, among others.

Step 2: Check out local retailers. In addition to shopping online, you can also check the availability of car video monitors from retailers in your area.

Popular retailers include Walmart, Fry's and Best Buy.

Step 3: Look for ads in the local newspaper.. Another place to find car video monitors is in the classifieds section of your local newspaper.

When you meet someone from an advertisement to pick up an item you have purchased, be sure to meet in a public place or ask a friend or relative to accompany you. If possible, make sure the item works before closing the deal.

Installing a monitor in your car is a great way to add value to your passengers by making long and short trips enjoyable and fun for everyone. If you have any questions about installing a car video display, feel free to ask a mechanic for helpful advice on the process.
