How to replace the accessory belt pretensioner pulley?

The auxiliary belt tensioner pulley maintains proper tension. However, it is a wearing part that is systematically changed at the same time as the accessory strap itself. To replace the belt tensioner pulley, it is sometimes necessary to remove the wheel.

Step 1. Loosen the accessory strap.

You should start by figuring out which tensioner pulley access is appropriate for your engine: consult your service book to see if the wheel needs to be removed in order to change tension roller strap for accessories.

If the wheel needs to be removed, remove the bolts before jacking up the vehicle. Finish removing the nuts from the wheel to remove it. Finally, remove bumper dirt if it makes it difficult to access the belt tensioner roller.

Step 2. Remove the idler pulley from the accessory belt.

Intermediate rollers are usually secured with a nut, idler rollers are instead secured with screws that must be removed. We unscrew the three screws and remove the tension roller belt for accessories.

Step 3. Install a new belt tensioner pulley.

Assemble in reverse order. Start by reassembling the auxiliary belt idler roller by tightening its screws and then the idler pulley. Loosen the tension roller.

Then place a new strap on the path you marked. Pass it all pulleysexcept one, then release the idler pulley before looping it around the last pulley.

Tighten the accessory belt using the tensioner pulley. The procedure varies depending on whether automatic or manual roller... Make sure the tension is correct: your belt should make a quarter turn when you turn it between your thumb and forefinger at its longest.

Then you can then install the mudguard rake... Start tightening the nuts in the air, but tighten the nuts on the ground as soon as the car is lowered.

After reassembling, make sure you replace the idler pulley and auxiliary belt correctly by starting the engine. Any unusual hiss or buzzing sounds indicates improper belt tension.
