What problems does the new Skoda Octavia cause?
Czech automaker Skoda unveiled a new generation of its most popular model, the Octavia, in mid-November last year. Now the specialists of the Czech site Auto.cz, having studied the reviews of the owners of the new generation of the model, came to the conclusion that they mainly complain about the operation of the infotainment complex and software.
The website states that the owners of several cars turned to authorized services to update the "firmware" of the multimedia system, because voice assistant Laura did not understand her native Czech. The problem was solved by installing one of the software options, but sometimes, as a result of an upgrade, the airbag control unit failed, as a result of which a new one had to be installed.
One of the owners complained that the voice assistant lives its own life. “One day Laura started a long Internet search and the media system was forced to restart,” he said. In addition, the owner stressed that the start-stop system was not working properly and the radio was turning off.
Along with the aforementioned shortcomings, the new generation Octavia has problems pairing gadgets via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And also Wi-Fi connection from iPhone.
It is worth mentioning an interesting and so far the only case when the infotainment system display changed color after the car had been in the sun for a while. In this case, its restart was unsuccessful, and the owner was forced to change the complex.

in fact, in my March new Skoda Octavia the Infotainment software 1788 does not work: it does not save the settings even home and work address, impossible to search for new addresses. Sometimes the connection to the mobile phone does not read the names in the phonebook correctly. Sometimes the air conditioning control (incredibly integrated into the infotainment) does not turn on, leaving only the black screen.
There are also other minor malfunctions and the random connection to the Skoda-Connect account. I made an appointment with Skoda Service to review everything with their IT Service. Let's hope….

The same problems with not remembering entered addresses, the navigation not continuing after a stopover (the question do you want to continue your way is no longer there, with the previous Octavia). Also, the indication of the maximum speed must be checked again each time and the memory of the home and work address is not saved. The car has been to the dealer for this and the answer is that this is not a safety issue and therefore there is no solution yet. Same bug here. Very recognizable (and annoying). Something new since yesterday: now suddenly both the main user and fellow users have to enter the email address and password every time. And after that it only works with the main user. I was happy with Skoda, now I would not recommend it to anyone (ie VW).

Drive a Skoda Octavia since March 2021 and must say, my first and also last. Nothing but problems with the software, new problems all the time and now a year later still no satisfactory solutions.
Each time the dealer's announcement is made, we are working on it.
Very unfortunate because in itself the car drives fine apart from the software problems (Reversing camera that does not work, lighting that does not go out,
turn signals that do not work, lane assist that constantly has malfunctions,
radio that cuts out spontaneously).

I bought my second octavia this June and it has the exact same problems as the 2020 2,0 diesel 110kw automatic.
