What are the types of file descriptors?
File handles are made in different shapes by different manufacturers. The main thing to remember when choosing a file handle is that it must be comfortable to grip!
File handles are made of wood or plastic.For starters, it would be useful for you to know the length of your file, as this is the measurement that file handle manufacturers refer to.The only exception to this rule are chainsaw files, which are usually measured by gauge (diameter or the widest measurement at the point of the file) rather than width. Their specialty pens will be listed using the same measurement.All other file types use standard file descriptors.Some pens are also designed for files of any size. These pens can come with inserts that cover the space at the base of the file to make a smaller opening for smaller files, or they can have tapered holes that fit any shank width.You will find that if you fit a large file into a small handle, or even one that fits all, the handle may not line up with the heel.
