Low damping, "soft" shock absorbers allow for a comfortable ride, but they favor lateral and longitudinal tilt of the car, contributing to low braking efficiency.

Shock absorbers with high damping force ensure high body stability, but make the suspension "hard", sporty, and travel is characterized by low comfort.

The choice of shock absorbers for a vehicle is a compromise between these opposite properties. The choice is all the more difficult as each shock absorber is a component of the vehicle's suspension system. The suspension characteristics are selected by the manufacturer over a long test cycle and are optimized for a specific car. That is why the shock absorber used in the sedan has different properties than in the sports or station wagon versions.
