Kia e-Niro - Reader's Experience

One of the Belgian Kia dealers invited our Reader to test the electric Kia Niro EV / e-Niro. Agnieszka is a fan of electric cars, and at the same time a good and honest person, so she agreed to share her driving experience with us. And… I think she knocked our Korean car off its pedestal. 🙂

This is what Agnieszka wrote to us after meeting e-Niro.

I have mixed feelings. I'm not a fan of SUVs, so visually I don't really like it. The designer loves buttons very much: buttons are everywhere! While Tesla had me on my knees, the Nissan Leaf fascinated me, the Niro is cool, but not my style.

Driving experience? Agnieszka didn't say a bad word here. Other reviewers rate the car similarly because the 204bhp. the horsepower and torque available right from the start should be impressive:

Of course, I will not deny its driving performance, because it is brilliant, it rides light, soft and pleasant. Mega cornering grip. Accelerates great. Only the pleasure of the trip itself seems less. I have a comparison to a Mitsubishi Lancer where every hole in the pavement feels and assembles like an elephant - but the fun is probably more.

The dealer from the car dealership received a rating just below:

He relented in front of me. He drove this car for electricians and hadn't heard anything about Tesla 3. I hadn't learned anything about inspections or hooks. I wanted to check my power consumption. He turned on what he could: air conditioning, etc. And the guest turned me off. Three times! I could not stand the latter ...

Power consumption Kia e-Niro. With regard to winter conditions, the level of 21,5-22 kWh looks good. On the other hand, on a 200 km highway, someone probably tested the car on the highway, so it turned out to be over 26 kWh / 100 km. With this level of battery charge, it will only last for 240-250 kilometers.

The batteries were also surprising, as pointed out by other observers, such as the representative of the Fully Charged YouTube channel:

The battery under the car looks mega weird.

Summary? This is perhaps the best:

I left the Kia and went to the salon next door, Hyundai. They should call tomorrow when they check Horse [Electric]. Kona has been on sale since April, Niro since September.

The car that Ms. Agnieszka tested is a Kia e-Niro with a 64 kWh battery and an actual range of about 380-390 km (up to 455 km according to WLTP). The Korean manufacturer's car theoretically debuted a few months ago, but it's very difficult to get one in practice. In Norway, the allocation for 2019 has come to an end and one of our readers has even received their deposit back. In Poland, the premiere was supposed to take place before the end of 2018, but so far the electric Kia Niro does not appear on the site at all - although a few months ago it was on it with the "COMING SOON" badge.

According to our preliminary calculations, based on prices in other markets, prices for the Kia Niro EV 64 kWh will start from about 175-180 thousand PLN. The variant with 39 kWh battery should be cheaper by PLN 20:
