When should you change your car battery?

🚗 How do you know if the battery is dead?

Step 1. Open the hood and find the battery.

First of all, turn off the engine and find the battery. To find out exactly where your battery is located, we recommend that you refer to the manufacturer's manual. Most of the time, however, this is not too difficult, the battery is under the hood.

Step 2: Connect the multimeter

Once the battery is found, you will need to connect a multimeter to be able to measure the voltage. It's very simple, just connect the red wire to the positive terminal and the black wire to the negative terminal of the battery. Set the multimeter to the Volt position, then turn on the ignition and observe the displayed value.

Step 3. Look at the displayed result

If the result is around 12,66 V, the battery is 100% charged. If the result is 12,24V or something like that, then your battery is half charged. On the other hand, if your multimeter reads close to 11,89V or less, then your battery is low and you will have to go to the garage to recharge it or recharge it with a charger or coil!
