Coronavirus in Poland. Recommendations for every driver!

Coronavirus in Poland. Recommendations for every driver! Car owners only seem to be more secure in their cars than people, for example, in public transport. Therefore, it is worth remembering several elements that can increase the level of our protection.

Many people believe that they are less likely to contract the coronavirus when traveling by car than, for example, when traveling by public transport. This is true, but this does not mean that we are not completely protected from accidental infection during the operation of the car. Below are some points that every driver should pay attention to. They were created on the basis of the recommendations of the Main Sanitary Inspection.

Coronavirus in Poland. Where can we come into contact with the virus?

First of all, at gas stations, when paying for parking, at the entrances to motorways, at automatic car washes, etc.

To reduce the risk of contracting the coronavirus, we must:

  • keep a safe distance from the interlocutor (1-1,5 meters);
  • use non-cash payments (payment by card);
  • both when refueling the car, and when using various buttons and keyboards, door handles or handrails, disposable gloves should be used (remember to throw them in the trash after each use, and not wear "spare" ones);
  • if we have to use touch screens (capacitive) that respond to open fingers, then every time we use the screen, we must disinfect our hands;
  • wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water or disinfect them with a 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
  • if possible, bring your own pen with you;
  • it is worth regularly disinfecting the surfaces of mobile phones;
  • we must practice cough and breath hygiene. When coughing and sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or a tissue – dispose of the tissue in a closed trash can as soon as possible and wash your hands with soap and water or disinfect them with an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO We touch parts of the face with our hands, especially the mouth, nose and eyes.

Coronavirus in Poland. Does the vehicle need to be disinfected?

According to the GIS, the disinfection of internal objects and surfaces in the vehicle is justified if the car is used by strangers. If we only use it ourselves and our loved ones, there is no need to disinfect it. Of course, a thorough cleaning and cleaning of the car is always - regardless of the circumstances - the most appropriate!

– After disinfecting the vehicle, ventilate it. In addition, we also recommend taking care of the air conditioning system. For this, special kits are sold at gas stations. A clean air conditioner reduces the risk of developing pathogenic fungi, bacteria and viruses, advises Yana Parmova, head doctor of Skoda.

For car disinfection, products containing at least 70% isopropyl alcohol and microfiber cloths or ready-made disinfectant wipes are the best solution. According to Consumer Reports, the use of chlorine bleach or hydrogen peroxide is not recommended for car decontamination, as they can damage surfaces. When cleaning the upholstery, special care should be taken: excessive cleaning with alcohol can lead to discoloration of the material. Leather surfaces after cleaning should be treated with leather protection products.
