Is the leather interior of the car really that good?

A vehicle can be as comfortable as an apartment or a house, although the limited space does not provide for all that living space offers you. Parallels can be drawn as many as you want: a skin by the fireplace and fur covers on the seats in the car, a sofa covered with velor and tweed-covered seats in transport, a leather armchair and a leather car interior. The latter option was recently status, but today it is simply fashionable. Even the cheapest passenger car can be transformed if you change the fabric entourage to genuine leather. The main thing is not to try to save money at the expense of substitutes, as this will not only ruin the look, but also turn out to be a sign of a lack of taste.

So, what are the advantages of the material we are considering? First of all, wear resistance, it is generally recognized that leather is a very durable material, which means that with proper care, the skin will last a long time. Aesthetic appearance is also an important quality, for example, the woven covering of car seats fades over time, wrinkles form on it, and the leather always looks like new. Another property is non-staining, lipstick that has fallen on the fabric will leave a poorly removed mark on it, and will be erased from the skin in a moment. Incombustibility will protect the interior from a cigarette accidentally dropped on the skin.

However, there are also negative sides. At low temperatures, the skin tends to freeze, it loses its flexibility and becomes like flexible glass, and it is very cold and slowly warming up.. At high temperatures, the opposite effect occurs, it is as unpleasant to sit on the skin of the material in question as on a hot frying pan. Another drawback is that with frequent friction on the skin of the seats with clothes, glossy areas appear, which eventually turn into clear scuffs.

Leather for car interior - care rules

It is the overheating and strong cooling listed above that can lead to the fact that the lining of your fashionable interior in a vehicle will warp and become completely unpresentable. In this case, climate control is needed to quickly equalize a stable temperature in the car. The garage should be insulated, it is not advisable to leave transport for a long time in frost and heat if you do not want to soon need new leather for the car interior.

In order for the material to remain soft and look solid for longer, it needs proper care, in fact, the car interior requires no less attention than a woman. And, of course, no less in need of cosmetics. For example, a composition is very useful for protecting the skin from direct sunlight, which over time causes the skin to dry out. Also, special emollient creams are produced for this material. However, it should be borne in mind that the products that make the leather interior soft and cozy are incompatible with oils that add shine and presentability with the concomitant adhesion of clothes to the seats.

When rubbing the cream into the skin of the salon, it is necessary to ensure that the main part of the cosmetic product is absorbed, and the remnants are removed with a soft rag, otherwise the drying of the composition on the surface will lead to its contraction and deformation.

The moment came when the upholstery did not stand the test of time. There were small cuts, abrasions, the same “gloss” that was mentioned above. And the passenger seat turned out to be set on fire by a cigarette that fell out of someone's fingers unclenched in slumber. Until recently, restoration of leather car seats was impossible, with the exception of painting.

Today, there are many synthetic products that completely restore the appearance of the material of interest to us. In particular, there are special pastes that are smeared on a cut or cracked surface after a little cleaning and degreasing, and when dried, turn into a thin film that completely imitates the skin.

There is also a fairly budgetary liquid skin, but with its help you can "heal" only very small cuts and abrasions. Firstly, the containers in the set are very small (7 colors), and secondly, when the mixture hardens, it only partially resembles natural material, which is why it is good to mask minor defects with it. Scuffs and “gloss” are perfectly eliminated by painting, which is carried out in several layers, with drying after their application for an hour.
