Short test: Ford S-Max Vignale 2.0 TDCi 210 km.

The S-Max we tested this time was actually on its way. But only in theory when it comes to the "mechanical" part of a car or computer equipment. However, the Vignale label adds comfort, convenience and better looks to Ford vehicles. Well, in spite of all of the above, it is believed that it is intended not so much for your own praise or anger at neighbors, but for your own needs or gain. Specifically, this means that much more or less useful equipment was actually installed on the tested S-Max, so the total amount or price of a little more than 55 thousand did not even come as a surprise. In fact, many would have had enough of the already equipped S-Max Vignale, which costs about 45 thousand euros, but on the tested one they added about 12 thousand extras. The most notable of these were the electrically adjustable steering wheel with memory, massage seats, adjustable chassis and Sony navigation system, as well as a very useful front camera with which the driver can follow what is happening in front of him when parking 180 degrees. viewing angle.

Of course, the engine equipment was the most that Ford could do - a two-liter turbodiesel engine with 210 horsepower and a Powershift-badged dual-clutch automatic transmission. The combination provides more than enough power, but it's not really greedy. This Ford seems extremely suitable for long trips, which prove to be very comfortable, and despite reaching high average speeds, the average consumption is within fairly acceptable limits. Even an increase in speed, available only on German motorways, does not affect the increased fuel consumption. Even 18-inch wheels with very low profile tires (234/45) do not compromise comfort when driving on bad roads due to the adjustable suspension. Otherwise, the rest of the equipment also does a great job with the less stressful task of the driver.

Critics deserve only the little things. For those trying to make the ride more comfortable, even with the cruise control, the cruise control buttons are too fuzzy together and too fuzzy under the left-hand spokes on the steering wheel. What worries me most is that we rarely find the right button with a simple touch, each time we also have to check with our eyes if our finger has found the right key. However, this does not improve driving safety.

The S-Max also offers room for its increased dimensions, especially width. The driver does not notice this at all during normal driving, and all the more useful are all parking accessories that make it easier for the driver to find parking spaces, since most of them are not suitable for such a large car.

In its most powerful and richest version, the S-Max Vignale also makes a big impression on passengers, and despite its seemingly salty price tag, its price ends where it can only start in other premium cars. Therefore, Ford seems to have found a suitable approach for its proposal with a somewhat alternative design.
