WD-40 multipurpose grease and its applications

WD-40 fluid is more commonly known as "wedeshka" often used in car maintenance. In this article, we will consider the main ways of using this grease, its composition and other characteristics.

First, a little history. The fluid was made in 1953, its original purpose was to provide water repellency and prevent corrosion. But then the grease was widely used in everyday life, due to its properties.

What provides such functionality of this fluid?

The exact formula of the composition of the product is in strict secrecy, since the product is not patented and manufacturers are afraid of theft and copying of technology. But the general composition is still known. The main component of wd-40 is white spirit. Mineral oils contained in the fluid provide the necessary lubrication and water repellency. A certain type of hydrocarbon allows the use of a spray bottle. In the product manufacturer's data:

• White spirit is 50%;
• Moisture displacer (based on carbon) is 25%;
• Mineral oils 15%;
• Other constituents of substances that are not disclosed by the manufacturer 10%.

Ways to use WD-40 grease

Most often, WD-40 liquid is used to corrode rust in car threaded mechanisms. It's no secret that in cars of a solid service life it is not uncommon to see stuck, rusted bolts or nuts that cannot be loosened. Moreover, such bolts can be easily stripped off and then the process of unscrewing / removing will be much more difficult. To avoid this, use the wd-40 rust corrosive liquid. It is enough to apply the spray to the problem area as much as possible and wait 10-15 minutes. In addition to corrosion, this agent can eliminate squeaks in the cabin. A squeak most often appears due to not tightly seated elements of the skin, this happens over time due to dust, dirt and other foreign objects getting under the skin. WD-40 allows you to eliminate the squeak of interior elements if you apply it to a problem area (for example, a gap between the trim elements, for this it is desirable to accurately determine the source of the squeak).
