Short test: Nissan Murano 2.5 dCi Premium

Namely, the Murano does not belong to the youngest generation of automotive creations, so fresh, modern cars will calmly turn to it with Mr. Murano. The second generation has been on the market since 2008, and in the meantime it has been slightly rejuvenated almost exclusively cosmetically. And while we can write with confidence that it impresses with its appearance (which was true for the first generation when it hit the market ten years ago), it is still (at least half a step behind) technically and in driving feel. contest. In this class of (more or less) prestigious SUVs, this is serious, and the feeling is always closer to what you would expect from a prestigious sedan at this price point. However, here too Murano has problems.

The transmission, for example, cannot be compared to modern European products. In the end, without leaving the driver disappointed, after all, it is powerful, quiet and refined enough for the Murano to handle its mission without any problems, but it should be noted that the six-speed automatic transmission is a classic and behaves just that way. (with an improved but uncertain kick-down, early climb and random gear shifting) and the engine has its origins in 2005 when it was first used in the Pathfinder and Navarre, then significantly redesigned, increased in power. and was put in Murano.

The torque, as said, is sufficient, the consumption is still (depending on the type and characteristics of the car) favorable enough, and the noise (apart from low gears at city speeds) is not enough to worry. You just have to live with it: while some (more expensive) competitors may be either comfortable or sporty, the Murano is just plain comfortable.

This is also confirmed by its undercarriage, which is not responsive to cornering, but therefore feels good on bad road and maintains excellent direction at highway speeds.

That the Murano is not the last in terms of design is also confirmed by the seat's too long longitudinal offset and an overall high seating position for taller (around 190 centimeters) drivers. On the other hand, the interior design is pleasantly fresh, the audio and navigation controls are intuitive and unobtrusive, there is plenty of storage space, and the feel in the car falls under the label "like in a home living room." ... And even the rear passengers will not be hurt.

In fact, the only thing you need to know about this Murano if you're thinking about buying a car in this class is that if you want good (sporty) shape, all-wheel drive and driving comfort, Murano won't disappoint you. . But if you also want prestige, sportiness or, say, the usability of a van, you'll have to look elsewhere - and put up with a different price...

Fifty-one thousand, how much would a Murano like this cost you, including bi-xenon headlights, leather, navigation, reversing camera (you can't think of parking sensors on a Murano), cruise control, proximity key and more, good value depending on trim ...

evaluation

  • The Murano may not be the most recent, the most technically advanced, or, after the prestigious badge on the nose, the most coveted, but it is a richly equipped, affordable, comfortable and driver-friendly vehicle. And it's not ugly yet.
