Short test: Peugeot 508 RXH 2.0 BlueHDi 180

Later, he received classic transmission options, but now you will not find a hybrid in the Slovenian price list at all (it is still available abroad and costs about four thousandths more than the most powerful diesel engine). In fact, you will find an RXH with only one engine on our price list: a 180 horsepower 508-liter diesel engine. This, of course, means that despite the 4 RXH's more rugged look, due to the taller chassis and body trim, it doesn't boast all-wheel drive. Only the aforementioned HybridXNUMX diesel hybrid has this, as the electric motor drives the rear wheelset.

Although it has only been on the market for four years and has been updated, the 508 gives the impression that it was created years earlier. Not because it would be too loud, not comfortable enough, not environmentally friendly enough. Simply because it does not have that feeling that it was designed with the young digital generation in mind, and because it gives the feeling that it is in the area of digitization and control that there are as few buttons left as possible. Despite the fact that it has an LCD touch screen (SMEG + system), and although it can actually do almost everything that you would expect from such a system. He is not the only one who causes this feeling, and it must be admitted that this analogy sometimes gives him a very pleasant charm. Last but not least, not all lovers can control all functions with a single button or screen, and a living room can be comfortable and cozy, even if it is equipped with classic armchairs and carpets, and not just a combination of metal, glass and clean lines.

An old familiar 508 RXH is behind the wheel. We were delighted, for example, by the excellent 180-liter turbodiesel, which has 508 "horsepower" more than enough to make the 5,6 one of the fastest on the highway, but on the other hand, it delivers acceptable low fuel consumption. Although power is transmitted to the wheels by a classic automatic transmission (which is worse in terms of consumption than, for example, dual-clutch technology), consumption on the standard scheme was a passable 7,9 liters, and in the test 508 liters. Compared to the last 508 motorized car, which had a sedan body, less front surface and weight, the numbers are slightly (and expectedly) higher. Peugeot's engineers have handled the noise well, so long road trips with such a motorized and equipped XNUMX RXH are comfortable.

Chassis? Especially comfortable, as befits a car like this, both on vegan regional roads and at higher speeds. It is clear, of course, that the 508 RXH is not an athlete, so the fact that the power steering absorbs a lot of information from under the wheels does not even bother, as well as a safe position on the road. The equipment of the 508 RXH is rich as it is only available in one version, which also includes navigation, panoramic glass roof and partial leather upholstery. There are actually a few additional allowances, and among them the test 508 RXH had headlights in LED technology, in which we again noticed a very pronounced and alarming blue-violet edge of the light beam. They are otherwise durable and shine well, except that anything that illuminates this edge has a bluish tint. Rich equipment means not very low price: 38 thousand for the base, 41 for this test RXH. But considering that you can also get good discounts on the more expensive Peugeot (just check the technical data), this 508 can indeed be a very interesting choice.

evaluation

  • 41 thousand for such a car is a lot, maybe even a bit too much. Not because the car will be bad, just the price is too high - as long as the buyer does not receive a reasonable discount. Then it can even become profitable low.
