Brief Test: Renault ZOE R110 Limited // Who Cares?

The obsession with the electric car may have gotten a little out of hand. How much is actually enough? Have we ever wondered what a car would be for and what our daily life really looks like in terms of mobility? If you don't spend exactly three hours a day in the car, this Zoya can be a worthy partner in your daily mileage. Anyway, now that he was given an even bigger battery and a more powerful engine.

Zoe with a tag R110
indicates that it is powered by a 110-horsepower electric motor, which, unlike its predecessor, was developed by Renault. The new engine, despite the same dimensions and weight, squeezes out 16 "horsepower" more power, which is especially noticeable in the flexibility between 80 and 120 kilometers per hour, where the R110 should be two seconds faster than its predecessor. It is powered by electricity from a 305kg battery with a capacity of 41 kilowatt-hours, but since the Zoe does not support direct charging, it can be charged up to 22 kilowatts using an AC charger.

In practice, this means that for every hour that Zoe connects to the charging station, we get about 50-60 kilometers of power reserve in the "tank", but if you return home with a flat battery, you will have to charge it. all day. With a larger battery, they certainly saved the driver from thinking about the range, which, according to the new WLTP protocol, should be 300 kilometer in the normal temperature range. Since we tested it in the winter, we did it with the expense 18,8 kWh / 100 km dropped to a good 200 kilometers, which still means we don't have to think about charging every day when we use the car every day in the city.

Otherwise, the Zoe remains a perfect and perfect car. There is enough space everywhere, sits high and transparent, 338-liter trunk must meet the needs... The R-Link infotainment interface is not the most advanced, but we think the plus is that it is easy to operate and that it has Slovenian selectors. Of the gadgets that will make life with Zoe more enjoyable, it is definitely worth mentioning the ability to set a pre-warming time for the cab. In this case, of course, the car must be connected to the charging cable, but those few cents of electricity spent on heating still pay off when you sit in a warm cab in the morning.

The price list shows the Zoe remains one of the most affordable EVs out there. Of course, we have to take into account that at this attractive price (21.609 euros including the environmental subsidy) to the cost of renting a battery must be added. They range from 69 to 119 euros., depending on the number of kilometers rented per month.
