Short test: Toyota Yaris 1.33 Dual VVT-i Trend + (5 doors)

If we answer right away - definitely. But of course, the price of the machine is also related to the accessories. Namely, all cars offer (some more, some less) additional equipment, for which, depending on the brand, they charge a large fee. Thus, the price of a well-equipped car can skyrocket. Another solution is a factory fitted car, which is usually much more affordable.

Toyota Yaris Trend + is exactly what you need. This is an update to the stock hardware packages, which means they have updated the best so far, the Sol hardware package. Well, the Sports Package is more expensive than Sol, but this one is from a completely different movie.

The base update of the Sol package is called Trend. Chrome front fog lamps, aluminum 16-inch wheels and chrome exterior mirror housings were added. As in the hybrid version, the rear lights are diode (LED), and a nice spoiler has been added at the back. Even inside the story is different. Added white painted plastic parts on the dashboard, center console, doors and steering wheel, different upholstery (clearly called Trend), and orange stitched leather wrapped around the steering wheel, shifter and handbrake lever.

The interior has also been slightly redesigned. As mentioned, a different dashboard, a shorter gear lever with a larger knob, a different steering wheel and improved seats. Thanks to the Trend equipment, the Yaris looks much more attractive in terms of design and actually shatters the myth of Japanese uniformity. It's even better because the test machine was equipped with Trend + hardware. The rear windows are additionally tinted, which makes the car more prestigious when combined with the white color, and the cruise control also helps the driver inside. In this case, the front passenger compartment is illuminated and even cooled.

The Yaris Trend+ is available with 1,4-litre diesel and 1,33-litre petrol engines. Given that the Yaris is a car designed primarily for city driving, the engine is quite decent. A hundred "horses" do not work wonders, but they are more than enough for a quiet ride around the city. At the same time, they do not decompose, the engine runs quietly or has satisfactory sound insulation even at higher speeds.

With a top speed of 165 km/h you won't be among the fastest and acceleration in 12,5 seconds is nothing special, but as mentioned, the engine impresses with a calm and quiet operation, the gearbox or shifter is precise movements. The interior layout provides a comfortable stay in the cabin at the level of a larger and more expensive car. If we add to this the fact that the car has a small turning circle, the final score is simple - it is a good above average city car that appeals in terms of design and ultimately also in terms of price, since all the accessories mentioned are in stock. at a good price.

evaluation

  • Gone are the days when the Toyota Yaris was an above average expensive car. Well, now we cannot say that it is the cheapest, but not the worst either. The build quality is at an enviable level, the feel is good inside, and the whole machine works a lot more than it actually does. And with Trend + equipment, it also has an attractive design, which is surprising for a Japanese car.
