Tesla Model S hook? That's it: Kickstarter fundraising has begun

On the Kickstarter portal, a campaign has started to raise money for the Tesla S hook project. The creators already have 10 802 out of an estimated 30 thousand euros (the equivalent of less than 130 thousand zlotys). People who decide to pay can expect to receive a hook for free or even free assembly at a specialized factory.

There is only one light electric vehicle on the market today that can use a towbar: the Tesla Model X. In the future, this option will also be available for the Audi e-tron, Mercedes EQC, as well as Tesla Y and new variants. Tesla 3. It is unofficially said that electrical manufacturers do not allow towing trailers, so as not to overload the battery box and not to listen to customer complaints about the significantly worse range of the car.

The goal of the Kickstarter campaign is to raise money to (d) develop a prototype tug that can tow trailers weighing up to 1kg. The most expensive element of the project is the approval in accordance with EU directive 850/94/EC, which, however, is necessary for a Tesla Model S with such a hook to be able to move on the roads.

The creators of the solution explicitly admit that they already have a hook, but they must test it. TÜV in terms of usability and durability, and v CFM Schiller GmbH for load resistance. In the last test, over four full days, the towing hitch with the vehicle suffered approximately one million impacts.

If the tests are successful, hook manufacturers will be able to apply for product approval in the European Union. However, there is a risk that the structure will fail and the hook or machine will be damaged. It may also turn out that Tesla decides that the hook installation is a warrant violation.

People who decide to pay 1 euro (less than 600 zł) will receive a finished product with assembly in the future. Market price haka to Tesla S will be 1 euro, i.e. the equivalent of approximately 990 thousand zlotys. Fundraising will end on Tuesday, April 8,6, 30 at 10:XNUMX.
