KTM 1090 Adventure 2017 Test - Road Test

First driving impressions of the new Austrian Adventure, now even more powerful and productive

Range KTM Adventures 2017 he's struggling to meet a market that's increasingly focused on the crossover segment: motorcycles that are a little road, a little enduro and a little touring, with which you can basically do everything or almost everything.

In fact, there are currently five models available in the price list: two versions 1090 and three of 1290.

But let's start with the smallest member of the family, the 1090 Adventure, which I experienced for you on the streets of Sicily in search of advantages and disadvantages... In another article, I'll tell you about the new 1290 Adventure.

La KTM 1090 Adventure it replaces the old 1050 from which it inherited much of the design, chassis and electronics. Engine V-shaped twin from 1.050cc, on the other hand, it is growing in strength, doing well today 125 CV 8.500 weights / min, 109 Nm, 6.500 weights / min.

Upon request, the new 1090 Adventure is also available in Version 95 hp, which, in turn, can be weakened for novice drivers (but with such an order, it cannot be raised to 125 hp).

The full-body engine is matched with a six-speed gearbox and a new clutch. antisaltellamento PASC is associated with a lighter lever. Electronics provides three cards: Street, Sport and Rain, while the power of the latter is reduced to 100 hp. as an option is Off road map (it also stops the power at 100 hp).

The package is rounded off by Bosch 9M dual-channel ABS (deactivated in enduro mode on the rear wheel) and an adjustable traction control system. For cycling, we always find a steel trellis frame with an aluminum swingarm.

How the new 1090 KTM 2017 Adventure hits the road

It is very similar to the 1050. It remains an easy handling, enjoyable and comfortable bike. It does not scare the inexperienced (although the 95-horsepower version can be recommended for beginners) and is more entertaining for motorcyclists. experts.

It provides a comfortable and relaxed driving position, and the well-shaped fuel tank allows even the tallest person to have ample legroom. 

Saddle-handlebar-footboard optimal geometry; I personally only had to adjust the gear lever, slightly lowering it compared to the starting position.

Although the fork and mono have not been changed, their respective ones have been revised. installationwhich today allowed 1090 to prove itself even better on the way.

And above all, now, to promote the 1090 Adventure, we think that even more powerful engine, which, in addition to providing a lot of torque in the mid-bass, guarantees I'm stretching important and exciting: its character has changed precisely in the mid and high frequencies. 

It is really impossible to ask more of this two-cylinder engine. In addition, you travel in complete safety thanks to the presenceABS from Bosch and anti-slip system.
