KTM EXC

Muscles

The KTM 520 EXC is very popular with enduro riders. It is powered by a state-of-the-art four-stroke engine that features light weight, high torque and power that are difficult to fully utilize on our motocross tracks or bogie tracks. It is equipped with an electric starter, which is a must-have equipment on hard enduro motorcycles today.

Gone are the days when enduros proudly explained how they broke the kickstarter during hotel debates. Even when the engine shuts down in the middle of a speed test, all you have to do is press the red button with your finger and you can already hear the muffled drum of the single-cylinder engine.

The six days label means that the bike is primarily intended for serious racing as it features a stronger wheelset, engine guards, handlebar protectors, seat with control card pocket, racing transmission and noble design.

The motocross test track was too short for KTM. In second and third gears, lap to lap, in fourth, fifth and sixth, the planes ran out. Not that it would be boring, on the contrary, there is never boredom on such a powerful machine. Only the engine promises much more, it just pulls and pulls uphill. It seems that four-stroke engines are still better suited for fast and open trails. The suspension is adapted for off-road driving, where it works flawlessly. However, it is too soft for a serious lap on a motocross track. We also consider effective braking in its favor, as braking is also assisted by braking the engine when the accelerator pedal is depressed.

The KTM 520 EXC is a true high-caliber weapon in a six-day version. Although it is a four-stroke engine, it is nimble and nimble. The engine is powerful and constantly develops power, so it does not need to drive the car. Only when adding gas such a feeling is needed. When a single-cylinder engine sings through a sports exhaust, it's rather unpleasant if its path crosses a tree or bush.

Honda CR 125 R

Poison in small bottles

Honda sings at the first pull on the starter. “Oh, how flammable these two-stroke engines are,” is the first thought. The harsh sound when warmed up and the direct response to high-speed throttle movement promises a "toxic" character. At full throttle, the Hondo literally catapults out of the corner.

The SRS sports "kit" is to some extent enlivened by the lively two-stroke engine. With this kit, which includes a racing exhaust system, piston, cylinder and trims, Honda squeezes out a whopping 43 sparkling horses. They go crazy in the mid-rev range and don't settle down to the highest revs, so it's about twelve and a half thousand.

The feeling when the Honda flies over bumps is very light. The suspension, adapted to the wishes of the Rock Sitar, absorbs bumps well and softens landings even after the biggest jumps. It takes time to get used to the rigidity of an aluminum frame, as it does not absorb impacts as is typical of classic chrome-molybdenum frames. In the air, that is, while jumping, even a moderately capable rider successfully corrects mistakes.

Ease of driving and a responsive engine are two-stroke Honda's main virtues, nothing worse when braking. Thus, the CR 125 R confirmed Honda's reputation as the best braking two-stroke cross-country race car. A cute toy for racers and anyone just getting into weekend motocross.
